2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumClinton Vs. Citizens United...yes, I said VS.
Two days ago there was an article indicating that Citizen United filed a suit against Hillary because she isn't disclosing her schedule to them quickly enough.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2015/10/citizens-united-hillary-clinton-schedules-214936
Then I found this rather unflattering article in Forbes (dated just last month calling her campaign faltering....not sure what standards they used for that assessment) relating more animosity between Hillary and Citizen United, which began with her suppressing an unflattering movie they were trying to produce and release about her.

It's clear that there is no love between Hillary Clinton and Citizens United, and they have been at each others' throats, locked in a personal feud for some time:

Then there was her early campaign pledge to only pick Supreme Court Judges wiling to overturn CU,

....and her pledge to support a Constitutional Amendment to overturn CU. After all, the Republican financial windfall from this is far exceeded by anything a Dem will get out of it.

Hillary is committed to campaign finance reform. After all, leveling the paying field for Dems who generally pull in less money that Reps...helps all Democrats.

There is so much animosity, so much dislike between Hillary and Citizens United, that the constant implication here on DU that Hillary secretly supports the organization and wishes to ensures her money flow via that Supreme Court decision, is so much bullshit.
So, for those with any evidence that Hillary is in the back pocket of CU, I would ask for evidence....because everything I've seen implied she hates them with a passion...and that type of hatred is a strong political motivator to shut them down.

Some will be posters for a long time, then they take a break. I've heard of breaks lasting years.
Some will post for a few weeks and lose interest.
DU is a dynamic and fluid community.

(62,444 posts)Very few people who talk about the Citizen's United court ruling have ever read it.
The entire POINT of the CU court ruling revolved around an anti-Hillary movie that CU, the organization, was producing.
That, however, has nothing to do with the allegation that she benefits from the RULING in that court case. She does. That PACs can spend unlimited and unaccountable cash is a benefit to her.
But, most of the people who participate in discussions on DU think that the CU ruling allows unlimited direct contributions to candidates, and or a number of other odd things (i.e. that it held "money = speech", which it didn't do either).
Ernesto Miranda was a rapist and a kidnapper. That has nothing to do with whether someone benefits or not from the ruling in his case on the subject of voluntary confessions made in custody without knowing waiver of rights.

(6,474 posts)I want her to use every legal rule available to her to nominate judges to overturn Citizen United or bring a constitutional amendment if necessary. American people are strongly against the implications of Citizens United. Until she's elected you are damn right she needs to get the funding necessary to win in November

(12,504 posts)Every.single.time, the path leads to a RW source.
And you are absolutely correct. Those RW talking points are propagated, spread, and repeated by Hillary hating Dems, or Hillary Hating pretend-Dems.
