The artist in me thinks that Romney's logo sucks

This is strictly on aesthetically concluded terms…

It looks like three multi-colored worms having a pornographic three way.

There are six year olds who could have done a better job of doing one, hopped up on children's Nyquil and with a box of half-melted Crayolas.

The colors are bland and ordinary.

It's undefined and amateurish, with poorly achieved angles.

All in all - in spite of the horrible design aspects of the logo, I'll say that the only positive thing that it achieves is the fact that it reflects the character of Mitt Romney in startling accuracy. That logo IS Mitt Romney in a nutshell. My most concise estimate of the logo is that it looks soulless and droopy. Also a perfect description of Mitt, so it works at that level.

My most visceral reaction to it is to detest it. Not because it's Romney logo, but because it's so ugly that it looks as if it went to the bathroom and scared the shit out of the toilet.

It just adds to his unlike-ability factor in droves.

I'd appreciate then input from other artistic types here as well.

But exactly what one would expect from people who find beauty in nothing but wealth and power.

It's something I've noticed with all right-wing factions - their design always sucks.

Pop on over to freerepublic.com for exhibit A.

You'd think they would've noticed it looks limp. Either that, or it is a squeeze of Aquafresh toothpaste?

Anyhow, it smacks of "me too." "The President has an 'O.' We need a Letter shape as well!" Though an "O" actually has many, meaningful symbolic attributes. An "R" just looks like someone tip-toeing to me.

It has 3 aspects:

1) The R for Romney the Republican Richboy

2) The Red, White and Blue stripes of a flag (France, I assume)

3) The upper torso and head of three people standing astride each other --
a red (state) person, a white (WASP) person, and a blue (blooded) person.

It's not as if he's ever been professionally concerned with putting out a quality product.

If it doesn't involve how far he can fold/spindle/mutilate the tax code or redistribute wealth into his own pocket, he's not much of a detail man.

Typical Mitt. Too cheap to hire a really good, original branding designer. Copies Obama's O.

Reminds me of when Obama's brilliantly devastating ad of Mittens singing America the Beautiful came out.

Mitten's tried to punch back with an ad that opened with Obama singing. Again, cheap and derivative. And the ad had to be pulled within a day because they didn't bother to get permission to use the copyrighted song. And it wasn't effective anyway...if you already hated Obama, you'd leave the room at the first sight/sound of him and miss the content. If you already love Obama, you be enthralled with the sight and sound and pissed off when the singing stopped and the lies began.

Whereas love or hate Mittens, his singing was a draw for the sheer comedy value. And the song reinforced his hypocrisy while hitting hard with actual facts.

I think the punch of that ad, especially juxtoposed against Mittens' pathetic response, marked a real turning point in the campaign.

One brilliant punch after another, with flailing, whimpering, whining in response. Along with hiding behind the skirts, spurs and riding crop of Her Royal Haughtiness Empress Ann.

It looks unfinished, as if the 'artist' got distracted, wandered away, and forgot all about it.
But mostly, it looks like toothpaste.

I guess it kind of works to the low-info, low-education wingers who vote along party lines.

Of course, the opposite effect is also in play -- for those who have a visceral reaction/repulsion to "R" next to a name.

Don't underestimate six year olds. The dolts he has working for him have done their best to fuck up anything that can be fucked up - and that's the only thing they've done a good job at.
