If they made Texas a focus and registered the millions of potential Democrats here we could overcome the gerrymandering and guarantee Democrats the White House always. We only get Tea Party campaign commercials here. People here do not get to hear the other side, only far right Republican BS.

I hate to say we need help, but we need help! We have so many unregistered minorities we could sweep every election if we could get them registered and to the polls. Our local Democratic campaign offices are in disarray and need a shot in the arm!

The repubbies are getting mired in all kinds of messes lately. People are laughing at them, when they are not totally disgusted with them. The Benghazi hearings, Boehner, the latest threats of government shutdown, etc., etc.

We have a good chance to pick up some offices. People will vote, because it is a Presidential election year.

It is important to GOTV for the primaries, too. Many local and party offices are up for election then. Anyone who works on GOTV needs to work extra hard to get voters to the polls for the primaries.

And the op and article are correct, its more of the same, ds sleeping through an off year election and rs cleaning up at the local, state AND JUDICIAL level.

So they made a concerted effort to get anything they could and they picked up thousands.It was Koch money, but it wasn't that much, and could have been responded to, if the leadership of the party had cared. They didn't respond, perhaps because their own candidates wren't that different. (Bill.)

They went after control of people's lives. Not the few hundred national offices that get the press, but things like county clerk, school board - the things that make a lot more difference in people's day-to-day lives than a national office in many ways. They found people in these locations, sent them training materials, showed them how to gather their neighbors for coffee and influence them.

People even talked about it on here, laughing and poking fun. Today many of those people are in office, and it will be years, if ever, before they can be replaced. In the meantime, they will hurt a lot of people.

The Democrats were asleep at the wheel - while they talk about a strategy to win the WH, their opponents were planning and training people, teaching them how to run and win, and quietly scooping up local power in thousands of other offices across the 50 states.

And now there are decades of catch-up work to do, if it is ever possible. It will be interesting.

Who has the time to go to the local voting place, be it the school gym or county building , during a work day? Especially since the majority of localities and states do not give time off to vote in these local races. Certainly isn't the working mother or guy that has to work two jobs just to survive. It's the older crowd who listens to Beck, Hannity, and Rushbo and have that fire in their bellies and more importantly, the time, to get involved and get out to do something. When you have the time and you are given the chance to vote, you go out and vote - that simple. It becomes something to do rather than watch TV .
