Gwen Ifill LIVID over the lack of diversity in the Presidential debates

I was thinking the same thing as an African American how the fuck there not including a Hispanic or Black person as one of the moderators. Especially with all this voter suppression shit going on it should be a topic in the debates because Romney hasn't said a damn thing about it .Also African Americans unemployment is around 14% that should be discussed These debates are so phony http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/18/presidential-debates-gwen-ifill-diversity_n_1802813.html

Why are people surprised? Actually, I didn't think Gwen did a good job in the VP debates. Liberal_Stalwart71 Aug 2012 #6

I suspect there's internal PBS politics at play. Either Ifill or Margaret Warner would be kickass moderators, and I'd go with Ifill for diversity, but that would kinda leave the big guy out, wouldn't it? I mean two PBS moderators? But hasn't Leherer had his day at least one to many times already? Time for him to step down and Ifill to step up cause she deserves it. Throwing that bone with female PBS coverage of anything ain't exactly worldshaking exposure, even though it should be 'cause there's more coverage and less bullshitting by the peanut gallery than with the other guys.

Yeah, Univision and the other Spanish networks do have a case for their panties being in a wad, although I don't see it happening all that soon, what with Republican heads exploding at the thought. Maybe NPR's Mandolit del Barco or Maria Hinojosa if they get some more hard news under their belts and more exposure.

On edit--
Gwen, You're a pro. Don't let stories about you being pissed off get out. Maybe you did get screwed but shit happens and there's always next time. Meanwhile, don't look all pissy.

but it wouldn't improve the quality of the moderation. She is a card carrying member of the inside the beltway play it safe, both-sides-are-equally-guilty arm of the media. She is Jim Lehrer with breasts and dark skin.

You want to take a stand for diversity in moderators and get some serious and intelligent questions in the debate at the same time? Get Melissa Harris Perry to do the job.

She allowed Failin' Palin to get away with a whole bunch of shit! I was disappointed.
