The movie "2016"...

my repub friends are all over this and sending emails that it's being "sold out" all over the country.

I know, I know, it's playing to the base, but a swiftboat is a swiftboat.

I'd hoped today was going to feel like a positive day, but so far, not so much.

Googled it and mostly all I get is positive things and where it's showing.

when 2016 gets one (1) Emmy

HBO has received 12 nominations for "Game Change," including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (Woody Harrelson), Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Julianne Moore), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (Ed Harris), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Sarah Paulson), Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (Jay Roach) and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (Danny Strong). It's still one with multiple encore presentations.

Difficult act to follow … but let’s see how it compares on the money list.

... and it's still running.

Obama's most likely going to win, he's consistently led in a majority of swingstate polls, is professional, together, confident, running a masterful campaign. The Flip Snobny and lyin Ryan are a mess.

2016 is playing to the wingnuts, and wingnuts only, and anyone else can see this propaganda for what it is.

The great thing is, normal people who don't have this crazed hate for the President see, when he speaks, when he comes out and campaigns, shows his comfort and easy way with people, he's obviously not this bizzare caricature the wingnuts want everyone to believe he is and they just look more crazy and dishonest when they go off the rails like this.

That Obama, the one depicted in 2012, is a Repuke fantasy. Being in their demented repuke-bubble, they think everyone will suddenly see the light. They are insane with hate.

"Bubbling under the Top 10 at number 13, the anti-Obama documentary 2016 Obama’s America expanded from 61 theaters into 169 locations, and increased its gross by 294 percent to $1.25 million. Tellingly, the film’s per theater average increased from $5,202 to $7,391 this weekend, a rare feat at the box office — but especially when a film’s theater count nearly triples. 2016 Obama’s America has grossed $2.1 million in six weeks, and if it maintains this sort of momentum, it could become a major sleeper hit. After six weeks in the theatres it has yet to make back it's cost and to date has grossed less than half of Atlas Shrugged - a true Hollywood bomb.

Still, there are plenty of Teabaggers out there that need a little sloppy propaganda to feel right about really hating America's first black President.

Right you are, Holmes! Except .??.??. I’ve read the transcript of the press conference, and Obama didn’t make a single reference to British Petroleum—a name which, in any event, is commonly used by many people of a certain age (including me) who are sworn enemies of anticolonialism. D’Souza makes many errors of this sort, citing facts that aren’t facts in support of an otherwise unsupported conclusion. He says that Obama, in his memoir Dreams from My Father, never mentions his father’s drunkenness. Obama mentions it often. Indeed, D’Souza misreads the entire memoir: Far from admiring his father and emulating him, Obama makes his disillusionment with his father one of the themes of his own life story.

And where facts are missing altogether, faulty reasoning bolsters the case. “Wonder why Obama went to Harvard?” D’Souza slyly asks. “Here is a clue: It is the leading academic institution in America. And here’s another: His father went there.” Forget that neither of these facts is a clue, technically. Surely the first assertion is enough to adequately answer the question without recourse to the second, which is simply gratuitous as well as conjectural. But D’Souza always sees absence of evidence as evidence of something or other.

The Standard doesn't have a good search vehicle and Google kept giving me people quoting it and not the original article.

I saw yours and another thread on it so I thought that we better find the original article, it took me almost 2 hours to find it.

Hope it helps.

I remember when the Sarah Palin movie opened. It was on the same day a big blockbuster was opening. It was at a Loews Cinema in my town. They put it in one of the big size theaters and had about 8 or 9 showings all day and weekend starting at about 11:00 in the morning. I went to a movie later on and overheard a manager on the phone talking about how this film in that theater with that many showtimes is just killing them because they had no more than 5 or 6 people at a showing at one time plus during one of the shows there was no one in there. They played the movie to an empty theater.
This man was pissed, and I don;t blame him. As manager you have to play films the public wants, not just a small percentage of the public.By showing this film that many times in this bigger theater meant they lost money.

Same thing with this film I am sure.Theater managers show what they are told to show by corporate managers and when they lose money those same corporate managers blame the theater managers.
