Missouri Senate Candidate Rep.Todd Akin will hold a press conference at 4:15 p.m. CDT (5:15 p.m. EDT). The details of the press conference are not known, but Akin has made waves with highly insensitive comments regarding rape. He has been hounded by conservative pundits and elected officials to drop out of his highly competitive Missouri Senate race and spent the later part of this week meeting with GOP officials, ostensibly to discuss his electoral future.

Why would he hold a presser to say what everybody already knew?

Oh well we already know he ain't a MENSA member.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see WTF he has to say for himself.

But for a moment people were thinking he might be withdrawing because of the bad Rasmussen poll.

And yet he's holding another Press Conference in an hour.

Maybe the first time he said he was staying it, it wasn't "legitimate".

Either way, I hope he stays in. And I hope he continues to have press conferences because I do not want his stupidity forgotten!

In a brief press conference on Friday afternoon, Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) confirmed that he has no intention of stepping down as the Republican candidate for senator from Missouri and made it clear that he is not involved in any negotiations to do so.

“There are some people who are having trouble understanding my message,” Akin began. “We are going to be here through the November election. … There may be some negotiations, but they don’t include me.”

SNIP

“I may not be the favorite candidate of some people within the Republican establishment.”
