You get 12 seconds to say these things, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says about his comment at debate that Americans are sick of hearing about rival Hillary Clintons private e-mail system, WSJ reports.
Theres an investigation going on right now. I did not say, End the investigation. Thats silly. ... Let the investigation proceed unimpeded, Sanders says
People should be suspect of candidates who receive large sums of money from Wall Street and then go out and say, Trust me, Im going to really regulate Wall Street, Sanders says
I have been walking the walk, not just talking the talk
Asked about Clintons opposition to TPP trade deal, Sanders says consistency on issues does speak to the character of a person
Noting his vote against Iraq invasion, Sanders says, It is important to see which candidates have the courage to cast tough votes, to take on very, very powerful interests

Then Hillary's poll numbers improved and now he supports a GOP led investigation of Hillary's emails. I think he is the only democrat in congress that supports the GOP witch hunt? What's next for the Bern? Is he going to support another Benghazi hearing?

Like all investigations of Clinton, it will go nowhere.
I doubt even Clinton would say "end the investigation".
Has she said that?
Because that would be a foolish thing to say. If someone is investigating a blind alley, let them investigate. You look worse for suggesting it be shut down.
Can you point out to me the part where Sanders says he "supports" the investigation? Thank you.

(34,648 posts)That is right near my neighborhood, few miles away. I remember when they were filming it. I miss California. Made me homesick. Maybe I'll get out there this spring. You in Cali? If I make it out we can do lunch. Maybe yr girlfriend will give me some Lumpia.

(99,716 posts)I didn't know you were from Cali...
The DSB you see on this board is not that different from the real DSB except in real life I don't argue about politics, and I am super mellow. I have been in Cali for almost four years...When I first moved here I met this black guy on the bus and his name was Roger...He had a Jordan 23 Bulls jersey in a dry cleaner bag...We started talking and I told him I didn't like Donald Sterling because he was racist...He lives in Sherman Oaks but he's from Rosecrans...He jokingly asked me if I would like to visit Rosecrans with him...I asked him what would happen...He said," You're a white guy in your forties. They are going to know you're not looking for your girlfriend."
Where in South L A did you live? That's so far from me and I don't have a car...I did take the Orange Line to the Blue Line to the Purple Line to get to Long Beach.
BTW. Compton has changed...It's predominately Latino now.
It would be great to meet you... I get to meet 1SBM next month.

(34,648 posts)I was on Clyde and Spokane which is between Jefferson and Adams and between La Cienega and La Brea. For years. I went to Hamilton HS for the last year and a half of HS. It was either there or Dorsey, and yeah right I was NOT going to Dorsey, it's in Blood territory and they had shot at us a few times. I grew up in this area. Still know all the same people and my uncle lives in my old building.
I think my whole area is Blood Territory now. Not that bad of an area. I moved to Eastside Long Beach for a while. Then to Chattsworth, and then to Tarzana after Reseda. Been all over. My best friend lives near Tarzana still. Imma go stay with her when I come.
I used to take the red line to the blue line past the welfare office on grand to the LACC, then boom one bus and I was home. I miss mass transit. We have The People Mover bus. Nobody does the bus up here really unless you feel like freezing. I might have to move back home. Cold.

He was telling me how he was an officer at the juvenile jail during the Northridge earthquake and how these really tough street kids were scared to death. He told me he hugged them and told them everything was okay.
My gf said a lot of the gangs have moved to Palmdale because of pressure from LAPD...
And of course Reseda, Tarzana, And Chatsworth are close to me. We have friends who live on Collins Street in Reseda.

(35,568 posts)and that's exactly why CNN immediately edited that clip and waged war on Bernie2016TV for carrying the unedited clip. There were a few articles about how they spun that to pretend he supported her against an unfair investigation. That wasn't what he said at all, he said he was tired of the media sucking up all the air with her scandals at the expense of the issues. But when someone else's whole campaign is based on spin and smears and the big media outlets are her financial donors, that's what happens.
If Sanders is talking about the FBI probe, then he is absolutely right: The question of whether her e-mail set up was compromising is of course a legitimate one that should be investigated. (Law enforcement officials have said she is not a target of the investigation.) Even Clinton herself has allowed that these questions are legitimate.
Nor is this really all that dramatic a reversal of Sanders comments at the debate. The upshot of his remarks then was that the American people would rather hear about the issues than about Clintons e-mails. Now hes claiming the e-mail arrangement raises legitimate questions that should be answered by a legitimate inquiry. Those things arent mutually exclusive. They can both be true.

(51,741 posts)At this point it is just an expensive witch hunt. There is nothing "legitimate" about it.
Bernie is just giving aid and comfort to the Republicans with his flip flop on Hillary's emails.
WillyT
(72,631 posts)But that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the on-going investigations at DOJ/FBI.
Remember... the FBI has the server and are still trying to recover data?
And the DOJ has yet to render its findings, because they are waiting for the results from the FBI.

(47,803 posts)Bernie tends to say what he thinks. Even if he's taking polls and altering his strategy, I trust him to be honest a lot more than most. I think he's constitutionally incapable of saying something he doesn't fully believe himself.
Actually, I suspect he restrains what he really thinks. I would imagine when he's talking things over in private, he's a whole lot more critical. "What the hell was she thinking with that e-mail shit?!? What a stupid thing to do!"
