When you say you are going to "kick someone's butt" you own it.

Can we all agree on that and it is fair for partisans or supporters of the person whose butt is to be kicked to take umbrage and to strenuously argue why that will never occur.

Thank you in advance.

Sanders says there’s ‘earlier butt’ to kick before the GOP’s

CONCORD, N.H. — As he filed Thursday to run in New Hampshire’s Democratic contest for president, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) fielded a colorful question from someone crammed into the secretary of state’s office here: “You ready to kick some Republican butt, Bernie?”

“There’s some earlier butt we have to deal with,” the Vermont senator replied, in a less-than-graceful reference to the Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton.

If you want to have a semantics argument I am not going to oblige you but I suspect there are a lot of posters here who will...

My addition to this testosterone fueled debate is if the septuagenarian senator thinks he can "kick (Hillary's) butt " he better pinch himself because he must be dreaming.

Its not a semantics argument, all phrases and words have different meanings and connotations. Like the word “discipline” I I would never tolerate any discipline from anyone at my age, But at one time I had enough discipline to do what I enjoyed train and run in marathons.

What Sanders said was a little cruder than he should he been . That's one of the putfalls of actually speaking like a person, instead of just another perfectly modulated Acceptable Candidate (TM).

He didn't say anything that men don't say to men, women say to men, women say to women and all variations every day in many situations.

If Clinton wants to say something equally snarky or plain spoken in return, hey fine. But with one caveat-- It would be preferable if she not use as a defense that she is a delicate flower who is too delicate to speak plain English to, because there might be vague overtones of sexism involved.

By actual debate I mean the two of them sitting down comfortably with a moderator who sees his role simply as keeping a real discussion going, and allowing them to explain their points and engage each other in a real way (as opposed to 30 seconds "state your peace and soundbite&quot .

I think that would be very illuminating, and show both of them at their best -- and I think it would be an evenly matched contest.

(Actually I wish all debates were like that. But...)

Fri Nov 6, 2015, 02:52 PM
Nov 2015

I've only seen those scripted, made for TV, campaign stops that the TV calls "debates".
The last presidential debates were hosted by the League of Women Voters back in the 70s & 80s,
but as campaigns started dictating the parameters of the "debate" , the LWV refused to host them again, and released this statement:

"The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public.

Never-the-Less, watching Hillary's performance at the Senate hearings, while not a debate, at times showed Hillary's skills at it.

OTOH, Bernie HAS been in thousands of debates on the House and Senate Floor,
so an open, formal debate between these two would be interesting.

Hence the gender card is wildly misplaced in this instance (as usual), so what's the
big problem again?

Clintonistas I suppose could take issue with Bernie using an "off-color" word perhaps, but then ...

you'd think Hillary peeps would be equally outraged about Bernie saying "voters are
tired of hearing about your DAMNED emails".?? .. yet quite the opposite happened.

So what is Team Clinton's big problem with this again?

Giving you ALL the benefit of the doubt possible, you may still go back and correct the LIE you put in quotation marks..... or
we will have to assume the only other alternative:
You have no problems with intentionally trying to deceive the DU community by intentionally posting FALSE information.

It is a sign of deep desperation when fans have to start inventing fantasies to try to sell their candidate.
That is pretty sad...having to make stuff up.

You do yourself no favors by making stuff up and then putting quotation marks around it.

Sexist: "let's kick her sweet ass"

"Kick some butt" is a generic phrase uttered mostly by men prior to going into some sort of battle, usually sports related. It has nothing to do with gender.
