Wife, Elaine Chao, born in Taiwan. She came here when she was 8 years old. Did she come here legally? Deserves to be asked to Bitch McConnell. Just to give him a dose of his own medicine.Firebrand Gary

(159 posts)...Capitalist America.....when the Longshoremen went on strike over healthcare issues on the west coast McConnell used his influence to shut it down....at the time he sat on an obscure but important committee that oversaw maritime commerce......I'm certain that his father-in-law complained of having to ship Chinese goods to Mexico to be unloaded and then trucked back north....Mitch and Elaine are of the same ilk as Phil and Wendy Graham....

(15,374 posts)The way I have lived my life is an absolute repudiation of such charges.
I AM contemptuous of those who do discriminate against strangers and extremely contemptuous of hypocrites like McConnell. That is why I recommended this post.
I have no doubt whatsoever that McConnell's wife came to the US legally. I accord the same presumption of legality to any other person who is here, regardless of race, creed or origin.
While the post could perhaps have been framed more artfully, I do not see it as contempt towards McConnell's wife because of her origin. I rather see it as contempt towards McConnell himself because of his support of GOP positions on children who were brought to the US as minors, whatever the status of their parents, his unwillingness to cut those children any slack whatsoever and his total wishy-washyness (sp?) in re the birthers.

(57,333 posts)is OK? "Papers, Please!" is OK as long as its being asked of GOP legislators' wives? I so disagree with that attitude.

(724 posts)Apparently, he divorced his wife, Sherrill Redmon in 1993. He married Elaine Chao that same year. But I guess infidelity only counts if you're a democrat.
