2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLate yesterday afternoon
I'd spent the afternoon with a good friend who isn't doing so well and was kinda, Kinda hell, more like depressed. As I was sitting at the light to make a left turn to come on home the car that pulled up beside me suddenly put his car in reverse and backed up a few feet and then pulled back up beside me. I naturally look over to see what is going on and the guy, I'd say close to my age or a tad younger, I'm 67 YO BTW. Anyway when I look over at him he looks me in the eye and gives me two thumbs up and a big smile. I look at him perplexed as to what is the deal and he pantomimes a gun like shoot 'm up. I realize he was referring to the Stop the War sticker on my back window and I smile back and shake my head yes then he mouths Bernie Sanders and gives me two thumbs up again and again smiles. I have a Bernie Sanders sticker on the other side of the rear window on my f150. The light changes and I make my left turn and as I do I look at him again and he's waving giving me two thumbs up and is smiling like he'd just won the lottery. You have to realize I live in a red of red states and this took me by surprise. Apparently seeing my back window with a Bernie Sanders on one side of my back window and a Stop the War on the other side took him by surprise too.
Needless to say I've been in hog heaven ever since.
Funny how little incidences like this can totally change a persons day, both his I'm sure and mine for sure.
I'm sure he seen my DemocraticUnderground sticker above the sliding part of the window too. Maybe he'll come and check us out and see this post of mine and say to me. Now that would really make my day

(41,174 posts)with you is just great! This is the genuine inspiration and hope that Bernie's campaign is giving thousands of Americans. Now I feel happy too. Bernie's uniting people and it's exhilarating. Two supporters meeting this way and in a Red State, wouldn't the campaign like to know of this even though it's no surprise, your story is truly a great one.
>PS How and where can I get a *DU CAR STICKER too please? Anyone? I remember reading smthg. about this last year. It would be terrific to have a couple.

(9,289 posts)I gave one of my "bienvenidos inmigrantes" bumperstickers to a friend who put it on his car and a man with a hispanic accent came up to him in a parking lot, pointed at it, and just said, "That's nice." It made me feel good just hearing about it.

(22,380 posts)I have a plotter and sign making equipment. I can cut letters and run them on my bumper:

I'll do this on my truck, and my little run-around town Ford Fiesta. That's a good plan.

(972 posts)We might be neighbors as I live in the Joplin area. I am having a Bernie debate watch party at my house and already have over 30 people signed up to attend.
