To say I'm disappointed is an understatement....

As Democrats we have three excellent candidates.
Just look at the other side. We cajole, we laugh, we are glad that is not our side.

But we,here, are turning into them.

I will support any candidate the Dems put up. I vote my party.

Do I have a thought on who is the better? Of fucking course! Will I slam another's choice?
Yes on the fucking issues! Not anything else.

We will all be better off if a Democrat wins the election. There's too much at stake.

Look at the other side!

All this other shit has got to stop.

I don't post much, I have been here for a loooong time. First as a long time lurker, then I joined.

I come here to get the take on the main issues of our time.

But all this shit that is going down here lately is about supporters, not the ever loving issues.
Try to get real.

I think some people have a fear of change. That ok. Me too. I think some people cannot accept way, way, way differences in political policy, ok! Say that. Face your fears, discuss that, them.
Don't disparage other members for their fears.

This place now reminds me of the steps of grief. Think and listen.

I will never place anyone on ignore, I think it's rude. Just wrong. I need to listen to everyone.
Will I agree? Who knows?

But slamming people for thier beliefs, just not right, not acceptable.

I cannot be here for a great while to respond cuz I kinda got a life outta politics. I need to hike at least five miles a day to keep my fucking dog happy, and I will guess me also

Just remember we are all,in this crap together. We will support each other when we need to.

I love this site, it has made me a more informed and better person. Let's keep that aspect up.

It's an unfortunate fact that "get a life" cannot be enforced in a court of law.

Oh, and in case I forgot to mention it, if you don't disavow your preferred candidate and praise mine instead, you're a gun-loving corporate racist money-worshipping socialist oligarch, so there!

I take a little pride in that as sick as it may be.
Taken great care of in the VA system and alive to talk about it.

I'm 64 and just getting into the good life.

Socialist medicine.... Saved my life so I could see my two grandkids.
Both born after the VA saved my life.

Vote for someone that did not cut VA funding could be someone's grandfather.

Of course we still have the rw media to contend with but even they are losing ground to the new media. That has been a big plus for us. The banter you mention on du is truly insignificant. We still have an excellent conversation going on here. I take part in the banter for fun and the more serious conversations for education.

Under this format I see no way around what you are describing unless we go to a fully moderated system with a strong authoritarian bent from the top down. The old du. Unlike politics, the owners of du decided it could be done better without that power structure, and gave up a lot of power. That leaves us where we are. Outright in your face racism would have never stood at the old du. More subversive? Yes. Blatant? No.

I'm actually sorry I didn't make that point in my post. I do like the current format over the previous one. I believe a wider range of opinions are allowed now. I also think the overall purpose to elect democrats is still being served. But during primaries under this format it is going to get a little ugly.

And I think the candidates are showing their cards whether they want to or not. Beyond that, it would be alot fairer contention if it were taking place on a level playing field. It's not. We have a team who's bench is crowded with corporate wealth - and a bench that's occupied by folks like myself.
As I keep reminding myself - until the monies are equal, the game cannot be an honest match. And until it becomes an honest match, I'm gonna bitch about it. If that's getting down and dirty, I have no apology.

Also the comment about the schoolyard crap. I also remember that a GREAT many of the most vicious "warriors" of 2008 disappeared soon after the primaries were decided. Gee, what a surprise.

I also have never placed anyone on ignore. Apparently I have been placed in ignore by some. I don't remember who, as I saw it when checking a detail on my profile, and I haven't done that for years. There have probably been others in the meantime. The world hasn't stopped spinning on its axis as a result, so it can't have been too important.

can't discuss character without it being personal. Sanders may not think we should talk about character but it matters to some. Objection to character quality kicks in for some before manifestation of Romneyesque pyschopathic pirate capitalism.

can't discuss the factions... progressive vs liberal vs new dem v without expressing what you don't like about the faction, some of that is issues of policy an some of it is issues of philosophy
