Hillary I don’t think taxpayers should be paying to send Donald Trump’s kids to college.

Hillary Clinton dissed Sen. Bernie Sanders' (I-VT) proposal to make college free for all Americans by noting that taxpayers should not have to pay to send Donald Trump's children to college.

Sanders has long pushed for free tuition at state colleges and universities, but Clinton on Saturday said that students at those schools should just be able to graduate debt-free.

“I believe that we should make community college free. We should have debt-free college if you got to a public college or university. You should not have to borrow a dime to pay tuition," Clinton said. "I disagree with free college for everybody. I don’t think taxpayers should be paying to send Donald Trump’s kids to college."

I wish Bernie or O'Malley had pointed this out. What a bullshit argument, and a very right-wing tactic: "somebody undeserving is coming to take your money! BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA!" The truly wealthy would not take advantage of this program. State schools are not prestigious enough for their kids.

And like any beneficial social program, the tiny amount of abuse that might happen would not negate the enormous good it would do for America's working families. (And I'm not even sure I would call it abuse if some kids from wealthy families got a "free" education at a state university, since their parents probably pay quite a bit in stock market speculation taxes, which is exactly where we would get the funding for the program.)

Trump would be paying a lot more, but he will be paying through the progressive taxation system, or through the Wall St. transaction tax, not at the point of service.

Anyway, taxpayers already send his kids to college because the whole system is designed to protect his private stinking property.

Let's say your Donald Trump's kid. You do something that enrages your rich dad. Dad kicks you out and cuts you off. A means tested college could say, your parents are billionaires, no soup for you.

As I understand it, Bernie's tuition free plan applies to state colleges. Most of the 1%, including Donald Trump, probably will be sending their kids to private universities. Hillary's response sounded a bit snarky.

As Bernie Sanders said, a college degree today provides the same preparation for the job market as a high school degree did 50 years ago.

If the uber wealthy and Hillary's douchebag Wall Street pals paid for America's education, what would you think about that?

Do you even know that tens of thousands of millionaires received social security? No, you didn't realize your taxes already help pay their bills.

spend equally is more palatable than the punitive tax progressively spend progressively.
Sharing the pie is how you maintain popular support. Another option is tax equally spend progressively but progressives have a knee-jerk aversion to that idea. Anything beats our current tax regressively spend regressively.

Means-tested programs end up getting called welfare and get defunded. It's quite easy to gauge the seriousness of politician by how quick he or she is to suggest a means test.

We do not hate rich people. I don't know any uber wealthy people. But, I did go to college some of my favorite people were the children of rich people. They are very nice. I don't care if they get free college too. One girl I knew was working to support herself because her very rich parents refused to pay for her college. So, why should she get f'd by the system just because her parents have money and won't pay. She can't get pell grants and some loans that poor kids can get. It's not fair at all.
