O'Malley Campaign Reduces HQ Staff

http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/omalley-campaign-reduces-hq-staff-n464511

Martin O'Malley's financially strapped presidential campaign is reallocating resources to reduce the size of its headquarters staff and focus on the early presidential nominating states, and especially Iowa, according to sources.

The former Maryland governor has been mired in the low single digits in polls and struggled to raise the money necessary to support his relatively large operation. After Saturday night's Democratic presidential debate in Iowa, O'Malley's staff were alerted there would be a shift away from the campaign's Baltimore headquarters to its field operations in the early states.

All staffers will be given the option of transitioning, but overall headcount could fall depending on how many chose to ship out. "We're pushing all resources and HQ staff to early states. Everyone from HQ who goes to an early state will be on payroll," said a campaign official.

Spokesperson Haley Morris confirmed the shift in emphasis, but did not specify overall headcount numbers. "We're shifting more resources and staff to Iowa and the other early states," she said. "We have always run a lean campaign and will continue to do so. We are pursuing matching funds and will have enough money to compete vigorously for the nomination."

So I can see him cutting to the bone to do that.

Once it is clear she is free and clear, he'll drop.

4. FYI, just after the second debate, Martin O'Malley continues to see his Facebook support growing

at a faster rate than either Bernie or Hillary. His "new page likes" increased by 114.1% this past week, while Hillary's only increased by 19.7%, and Bernie's actually decreased by 33.5%.

'The campaign is shifting resources to the sites of the first contests.

“Hopefully everybody will start moving out to Iowa or New Hampshire or South Carolina or Nevada. I mean that’s what happens in a national campaign.”

On Monday, Morris said in an e-mail: “With 75 days left until the Iowa caucus, we're in the next phase of the campaign and that means all-in in the early states. We're pushing all resources and [headquarters] staff to early states.”'

Good news for O'Malley tonight as well: Nice endorsement from Polk County (Des Moines) chair Tom Henderson + 27 other Iowa Dems.

@Bencjacobs @JosephOHern wow, Tom Henderson has been County Chair for 16 years. Seems like a bigger than big deal for @MartinOMalley

8. His lack of funding kind of surprises me.

Going in, I thought that one of his strengths would be that, as governor of Md., he'd made lots of influential and well-heeled contacts inside the Beltway. What's-her-face can't possibly have locked all of them up, can she?

perfectly fine candidate who would probably do well in a ge, but doesn't make enough of the big money people happy so his campaign is hindered.

once again, the leadership and elites pick the winners, and our votes get to either confirm or refute their choice for us

sucks

He is need on that stage and I was so proud of him
taking on DWS at that time with the DNC.

I really wonder why he does not get more support.
My AA neighbor, after watching the last debate,
was very impressed by him.

Hey, Lady, keep fighting for him!

Was so frustrated that he was cut short at the debate, didn't get the time he deserved OR the opportunity to finish responses.

I'm afraid it's a 'herd' mentality that keeps him down, aided and abetted by the MSM that wants a dramatic show-down between hrc and bernie, DRAMA! MO'M's too damn rational for them to handle! AND DNC's refusal to provide decent debate schedule!

17. There is another point to consider

DNC took on Bernie only because they thought he
would be a fringe candidate. Thus insuring HRC
the nomination. It turned out a little differently
than they believed.
But O'Malley could be a real danger to HRC, therefore
he was not allowed to shine.
A) He has no serious scandals in his closet,
B) He is a younger and therefore a more
energetic competitor.

Sorry, not allowed this time! Jmo.

14. This is a direct result of the debate schedule.

He has no name recognition and needs the free media that has always come from the debates in Dem primary. But, Debbie in an effort to help Hillary, prohibited outside debates, only allowed 4 debates before Iowa votes and scheduled 3 of the 4 on weekends.

I think O'Malley will be ok. He can run a cheap campaign and he is the only candidate doing a true retail campaign in Iowa. That is going to pay off for him.
