Sanders Camp: Tax Hikes Only for People Making a Lot of Money
I dont really see that, says Tad Devine, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanderss senior strategist, of a proposal to raise tax rates on middle class, according to Politico. I dont see tax rate increases involving anyone other than people making a lot of money.
I dont know if the Congressional Budget Office itself will be involved, but its going to be legit. The think tanks are going to say these are real numbers. This is not somebodys tax plan that makes no sense in the real world. Hes a serious legislator, Devine says, according to report
NOTE: Report follows Clinton campaign statement earlier Tuesday attacking Sanders over middle-class tax increases, saying Clinton will make sure the wealthiest Americans finally start paying their fair share

Whats his definition of lots of money? We know Hillary's is 250k. We know Sanders plans call to hike payroll tax.

"[The payroll tax] would hit everyone - yeah, it would. But it would mean we would join the rest of the industrialized world and make sure that when a mom has a baby she can in fact stay home with that baby for three months, rather than going back to work at the end of one week," Sanders said.

Um, no. As a Californian in a higher tax bracket, I'm already taxed up to the wazoo. Don't need our Federal taxes to be raised, as well.

(19,877 posts)I love being able to pay my taxes, I feel it is my duty, but I don't want to pay higher taxes on my already high taxes. My job is tied to NYC, I can't move to a low cost area of the country.

(25,960 posts)It isn't rich either. And Obama has long defined this amount as middle class.
Sure it's upper middle class. But not remotely rich or people deserving of tax increases.

(7,393 posts).... that is lack of detail on his proposals will not EVENTUALLY include taxes on the middle class, we should just trust Saint Bernard. Right?
OMFG. Really??? Especially since he has already admitted that his proposals will be paid for by taxes on all of us? Sorry, his campaign is a joke at this point.
