Reading threads about Hillary this and Bernie that make me wonder

I recall the nastiness and sorry state of things about 7 years or so ago. I had always viewed DU as a home, up to that point. The stuff that went on left me disillusioned and feeling betrayed.

It isn't about personality. It is about policies. These are people doing a job and I don't give a rats butt who doesn't it as long as they do it right. Bernie or Hillary will be fine with me. If Republicans move I will give serious consideration to moving to Canada.

I don't spend much time here. It would be nice if it felt like home again but the vitriol in the Hillary Bernie debate doesn't impress me.

Obama really used social media well, but did all the candidates use the various tools very much, such as organized Facebook and Twitter teams?

I don't think so. We've read about how some candidates have hired people in other countries to do things on Facebook, etc., and that's some pretty sophisticated campaigning.

I don't doubt that well-funded campaigns are using other venues, like discussion boards, to methodically promote their candidate.

There are a lot of signs of organized posting, for better or worse, and some of these have the earmarks of cyber-bullying or intimidation or something.

So, yes, I think it's worse this time around generally.

On the other hand, the Internet is empowering some candidates in ways that could not have been as strong in 2007, so maybe it's a wash.

I haven't taken a position. I would accept either Hillary or Bernie and really I don't see a huge difference in the policies they espouse.

Even Bernie says he would unequivocally support Hillary, should she be the nominee. Yet I am personally attacked and being accused of whining for lamenting the fact that we cannot have a civil, rational discussion about this.

It is the same, it is the same. No one has learned anything. I am sad for us.
