Does experience matter for Presidency?

I don't think saying someone has more experience to be President means anything. Many of our Great Presidents had little experience and our bad Presidents had a lot of experience.

Just two for example

President G.H.W. Bush
1967–1971 Congressional years
1971 - 1973 Ambassador to the United Nations
1973 - 1974 Chairman of the Republican National Committee
1974 - 1975 Envoy to China
1976 - 1977 Director of Central Intelligence
1977 Chairman on the Executive Committee of the First International Bank in Houston
1978 Part-time professor of Administrative Science at Rice University's Jones School of Business
1977 - 1979 Director of the Council on Foreign Relations foreign policy organization

President J.F. Kennedy
1947 - 1953 U.S. House of Representatives
1953 -1960 U.S. Senate

What ever you think about Bush, his resume is longer than Kennedy's and sounds like he would be better at running the job with all that experience.
There's no training for President. Some people will rise to the top and do great things. Not because of their resume, but because of their character.

be important when choosing a President. I've seen it cited on message boards to tout Reagan, who spent a brief time in the military making movies, and for Lincoln, who served in the militia one afternoon, which he himself had described as standing around in somebody's meadow for a few hours, then going home. (I kid you not.) This was in 2007-08, when I was comparing Lincoln's experience with Obama's and someone whipped out Lincoln's time in the militia, LOL! Thank heaven for Mr. Google's generosity.

JFK--all the Kennedy sons, it seems--was, however, very smart and well-informed, thanks, I believe, to the way Rose raised them. Very smart and well-informed are two good qualifications for President. So are sanity and a sense of humor.

But so are good judgment and honesty, two things that Clinton lacks.

But I don't think a list of previous jobs is sufficient to tell me how they will do at the job.

But having no experience like Trump or Carson is a disqualifier (as if their horrifying policies aren't enough).
