Chuck Norris: America faces ’1,000 years of darkness’ if Obama wins

Looks like we have another Ted Nugent on our hands.

Monday, September 3, 2012

A video released this weekend by action movie hero Chuck Norris claims that America faces “1,000 years of darkness” if President Barack Obama is reelected.

“If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack,” Norris warns, standing next to his wife. “We’re at a tipping point and, quite possibly, our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don’t change the course in which our country is headed.”

The pair go on to explain that Obama won in 2008 because more than 30 million evangelical Christians stayed home on Election Day. “We know you love your family and your freedom as much as Gena and I do, and it is because of that we can no longer sit quietly or stand on the sidelines and watch our country go the way of socialism or something much worse,” Norris explains.

Quoting President Ronald Reagan, Norris’s wife Gina adds that defeating Obama “will preserve for our children this last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into 1,000 years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.”

5. And these are people of "faith", eh?
Tue Sep 4, 2012, 02:02 AM
Sep 2012

Odd how fearful their "faith" makes them.

While I guess that joy comes from knowing that the greatest thing in the Universe is love, then worshipping of God Of Hate must fill its followers with fear.

They say "Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" but they don't know how to get past that beginning. Because the fear of having ones imperfections, and one's failure to consistently show and be love, held up against an all encompassing and unconditional love, is simply something to let go of. The fear of unacceptance, rejection, separation from that psychological space first occupied by your parents, or whomever cared for you however imperfectly, is the thing that holds you back from accepting, and giving love. Fear is only the "beginning" of wisdom, because the step beyond that is to recognize that fear, understand it, and let it go.

But, to these people, they stay stuck on fear itself, and can't step through to joy.

I actually agree with him that we're at a crossroads/tipping point, but it's not toward "socialism or something worse". That only comes out of the mouth of someone who's been spooning up horseshit like it's chocolate.

If he wants to save the country he could help do so, but instead he smacks his lips at the next spoonful and fights for the wrong team.

1,000 years of darkness is code for "'he's the antichrist.'"

That's exactly what it's saying, without having to actually come right out and say it, and sound like an even bigger loony.

I'm quite sure there are a good many hardcore-right evangelicals who genuinely believe, with utter 100% certainty, that President Obama is indeed the Antichrist.

And they'll likely go even crazier (if that's humanly possible) when/if President Obama gets re-elected. It'll be a full-on, foaming-at-the-mouth, spittle-flecked total mental and emotional breakdown on their side.

Which reminds me, if not for Bruce Lee ol' Chuck might still be "karate instructor to the stars". As stunt coordinator for The Wrecking Crew (1968), Lee gave him his first film role in a fight scene with star Dean Martin. A few years later, Lee put him on the road to his current career by casting him as the big showcase fight in The Way of the Dragon (which is the clip above).

At the time, Norris was the world karate champion, so theoretically he was the bigger name in martial arts (Lee didn't fight in the professional competition system). But that means jack in movies. Lee also taught him that no matter how good you are in real life, if you control the script and are the star, you can portray yourself as the complete badass.

And that describes Chuck Norris' career ever since.

On edit, added a clip from The Wrecking Crew, where Norris plays a standard hench-heavy. He is the guy to whom Martin has to check his gun when he walks in (at 0:43). Norris' bit in the main fight scene starts at 6:50 (and don't blink). The clip is nearly 8 minutes of late 60's star-vehicle swinging action flick, which means 8 minutes of cheese.

All but the most religiously insane will see this a pathetic and scary. Frankly, it reminds me of the videos that OBL would put out, short of calling for violence. Same crazy ass religious messaging, vilifying the opposition in the name of religion.

Wonder if the IRS will be keeping tabs on the evangelical churches who manage to play this AT church, or email through their offices, etc? We need to seriously start revoking tax exemption. That video was clearly made to distribute at church.
