Obama Promotes Homeowner Plan to Eliminate ’Drag’

President Barack Obama is asking Americans to press Congress to pass his new U.S. homeowner relief plan that includes a tax on financial companies that Republicans have already rejected.

Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address that the housing crisis has been “the biggest drag on our recovery from the recession.” He said his proposal, outlined earlier this week, would let homeowners who are current on their payments save $3,000 per year through refinancing into lower- interest loans guaranteed by the Federal Housing Administration.

“The catch,” Obama said, is that his plan needs approval by Congress. “And as anyone who has followed the news in the last six months can tell you, getting Congress to do anything these days is not an easy job.”

are not really the ones who need the assistance. Why not a plan to redo the loan for any who want it? Like my loan is 15 years paid but I can't continue the high payments. But since I've missed payments I can not get a new loan that take my balance back out over a 30 year loan again. A simple fucking refinance with no money needed to be put into it.
But no. Only those not in need, (republicans, I guess) will be able to get a modification.

No help seen here.

We are current, probably underwater on our value, but we pay that mortgage payment on time every month (so far). I would be so happy if we could get a lower 30 year fixed rate.

I'm sorry you are hurting even more than I, but I'm no repuke and so please don't be mad at me!

not mad at you and should not have thrown all in with repukes. Just been thinking a lot lately on how everything is rigged for their party members to survive and ours not to.

So sorry. I hope the plan does help you out, I just think they should exclude people like us. We have income. We want to keep the house, at least til market climbs to sell at a non deficit. There is no reason that they would not want to redo my loan out to 30 years making it a lower payment for us, and a bigger total take for themselves. They used to beg us to refinance in this way.

Now I think they want us to fail. They have bet against the homeowners and will get money if we fail. Then they will auction my house back to themselves at an even below current market value and make me pay the difference so that now I will be making a house payment on a house that they took.

I just think his plan should help those of us willing to keep the house, and not likely to fail on a lower monthly plan too.

It's been a redistribution of wealth plan from the beginning. Redistributing from the lower and middle class, back to the 1%. I think more and more everyday that the whole thing was planned this way. They caused our houses to not be able to be sold for profit. Then come in and sweep them all back up.

Anyway, again sorry to have offended. Just disapointed in that plan. Hope it helps you and others out. I just wished it went further.

I think that maybe the idea was that in the past people who have had financial problems were supposed to be helped with the last thing that didn't help and now on to the next idea.

I'm sad that we both won't get help on this go round (Hell, I don't know if I'll get help on this go round!) but I do think that things are sort of looking up...I hope Israel doesn't bomb Iran, we stay home and work on our problems and you get the money you need to make your life as wonderful as it can be in the best of all worlds. right back!

There are so many programs by feds and some vary by state (several states get extra help)
FHA offers free help in figuring out which program would be best and what you need
(but I don't know if banks are any better at it)
Speak with a Housing Expert

It's free and 24 hours per day
Maybe you've already tried but just in case...
Good luck

On first look I don't think I will have success. We make just over the hamp amount and no longer live in the home. We have our lives savings in the home but can't even sell it for any profit at all.

I will go check out the site more a little later. Just waking now.
thanks for your help.

Dropping my interest rate by 1 or 1.5% and keeping everything else the same would help me. Hopefully, there would not be numerous fees associated doing it.

Everyone's situation is different, I know.
