Omaha Steve is doing a good job supporting Bernie like that.

But don't say that fundraising shit never happens in GD: P it does. And just because it's a positive post about one of the candidates doesn't mean it should be "hidden" away in a supporter forum. Fuck that noise.

Not counting what Trump - a billionaire - could throw into his campaign.

No matter the Democratic candidate at any level, money will be targeting them.

Even when they drop out, that money will still get spent attacking some Democrat somewhere.

This is the game, these are the rules - if you want to win, you have to play!

The dark money is what is really interesting. Rubio's ad buys are primarily from a single dark money group and no one knows who the donors are. Koch brothers maybe? They are not thrilled about the Trump/Carson surges and their name is well known now, so it would make sense that they would start hiding more behind the dark money laws. Scott Walker already ate it and Jeb is a non-starter. If Rubio goes down, they are screwed.

The deal with campaign finance reform is with the Supreme Court, not the politicians. I have been fighting this battle on the grassroots level for years. We get good politicians elected, pass some good laws that add restrictions and transparency and the Supremes knock it down. If it was as easy as getting the right politician into power, believe me, it would be taken care of by now. But it is like a hydra. You cut off a head and a bunch more sprout in new and unexpected places.

Read this if you really want to shoot yourself in the head over the entire mess. It is boring to read about NC judicial elections, but I swear we were on the road to having some of the best and cleanest laws in the nation for judicial races and then the Supremes opened the floodgates of special interest money on us, we lost the 2010 elections, got redistricted into oblivion and now we are well and truly f'ed. I am a good soldier, but OMG it is frustrating. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/06/north-carolina-republicans-judicial-election

The good news is that people seem to be tuning political ads out more and more. Perhaps there is a saturation point.

I'm a Hillary supporter because I was so inspired by Obama's vision, and I think Hillary is the best shot we've got to achieve that and keep red out of the White House. But I look at a sum like $100M and I can't help but get sad at that damn waste of money, which could be used on all sorts of things. Heck, even just a new set of tires would make all the difference to me. Here's hoping that we can get some momentum goin to keep the red out of all levels of government and then we wouldn't have to spend so much on goddamn campaigning!
