7 Things Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Want You to Remember About Bill Clinton

After Republican Paul Ryan dog whistled to the racist wing of the Republican Party by calling into question the willingness of inner city blacks to work, members of the Congressional Black Caucus, and the Black community as a whole, rightfully piled on Rep. Ryan. But many forget that Bill Clinton was guilty of similar behavior where Blacks were concerned. And that’s not all that the Black center-left forgets when it remembers the first symbolically Black president.

1.) At the end of Bill Clinton’s term as Arkansas governor, his state did not have a civil rights statute on the books.

2.) Orval Faubus, an avowed racist segregationist and former Arkansas governor, was front and center, invited by Clinton himself, to the new governor’s inauguration.

3.) In his bid for the 1992 nomination, Bill Clinton brought George Wallace to Washington D.C., using pictures of himself in dark sunglasses, appearing as an overseer, while black prisoners worked on a chain gang nearby. That’s a dog whistle if ever I heard one.

4.) Bill Clinton went to Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow-Push Coalition not to meet with Blacks in any serious fashion, but to wag his finger at Sister Souljah. Rev. Jesse Jackson later said that “Sister Souljah represents the feelings and hopes of a whole generation of people,” and that Clinton misquoted her.

Let's not dig too deeply into her swift and unceremonious departure from her last job, now...for starters.

She served as his CHIEF OF STAFF for years in DC. Ooops! She took thirty grand as an ad buyer for his Senate campaign--she also threw a lot of work to her Driscoll kids; everyone made money off of that run.

She is now one of the principal managers of his Presidential campaign.

See, she's not just some little woman baking cookies and standing by her 2nd man....

You really should do your homework before you go down these "sauce for the goose" lines of snark. You have only yourself to blame.

It's not like this stuff is a big secret, either. I wonder how much Sanders' supporters even know about him when I see threads like this.

http://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/jane-says-sanders-secret-weapon-or-a-political-liability/Content?oid=2670992

Many political spouses steer clear of the day-to-day hustle of the campaign trail and the slow grind of government work, but that's never been O'Meara Sanders' MO. Since she introduced herself to her future husband the night he was elected Burlington mayor in 1981, O'Meara Sanders has played a crucial role in his public and political lives.

Soon after the mayor took over Burlington City Hall, she became the founding director of the Mayor's Youth Office, working for the man she'd marry in 1988. After he won a seat in the U.S. House in 1990, O'Meara Sanders spent five years working in a voluntary capacity in his congressional office. According to her LinkedIn page, she served during that period as "press secretary, chief of staff or policy analyst as needed."

And when the congressman was up for reelection, O'Meara Sanders worked as his television ad buyer, earning roughly $30,000 in commissions during the 2002 and 2004 elections, the Brattleboro Reformer reported at the time.

Now that Sanders is seeking the Democratic nomination, his wife continues to lead the parade.

"Bernie, Jeff and I are the people who run the campaign," she said last month, referring to Jeff Weaver, Sanders' former chief of staff and current campaign manager.

She's as up in his grill as Edith Wilson was to Woodrow.

Sheesh!

her kids. Guess who's running the six figure, just-created "woodworking degree" at that college where she recently got fired, oops, resigned with a crappy tin parachute before she was pushed out the door? It's someone with an O'Meara-Driscoll bloodline.

"Seriously" you don't know a thing about your candidate.

Bill's "scandals" have to do with his horndoggedness. It's all asked/answered, and ancient history. Now, in the winter of his life, he looks back fondly on his salad days, and so does America. He certainly kept life interesting, and people a) Have forgiven him his trespasses, and b) Love him. They just love a dog who's hard to keep on the porch. They love a charmer. They especially love a SMART charmer.

There's something rogue-ish about Bill. There's nothing rogue-ish about Jane. She hires her kids, for the school she's running, and for her husband's campaign. Ick.

It's unbelievable how little they actually know about their candidate. Yesterday someone told me Bernie never takes PAC money. It took about 12 seconds to provide a link showing PACs were a huge source of funding in his last senate campaign.

Jury, the stink I speak of is from the author of the article, not the OP.

5.) Famed black attorney Lani Guinier had reportedly helped quell the tension between Clinton and blacks upset over his Sister Souljah moment, but the debt they owed Guinier didn’t stop the Clintons from throwing her under the bus after they’d nominated her for a top spot at the Justice Department. Republicans claimed that Guinier had supported quotas, which was a lie, but when Republicans came after Guinier, the Clintons dropped her like a hot potato.

6.) In 1992, Bill Clinton flew back to Arkansas to personally oversee the execution of Rickey Ray Rector, a black man who’d been convicted of double murder. Rector had shot himself in the head after the murders and as a result, never understood why he was on trial or the consequence of being there. Rector’s execution was in the midst of the Gennifer Flowers scandal.

7.) President Bill Clinton, like Obama, had two years in the White House with a Democratic Congress after being elected. During those two years, Clinton caved on his promise to pass a welfare reform bill that would put people to work, but be buttressed by government support. Instead, he unilaterally put forth a bill that was as heartless and callous as anything Republicans had ever supported. The right wing got what it wanted from Clinton, while all the left got was pretty rhetoric.
