does not mean that complications can't occur after that.

Although I've never had hernia surgery, I have had situations where I thought I had recovered completely from some medical condition a day after treatment, only to be hit with a ton of bricks a day or two later.

The following day isn't so bad, but, good Lord, the next few days are miserable.

It's like your body is in shock the first day, but then the pain hits, like you said, with a ton of bricks after that.

There were two Republicans that crossed over. If some of the GOP presidential candidates didn't show up like Cruz, Rubio or Paul then the bill could have been stopped before a veto was needed. If there was a tie then Biden could have stopped it.

It would have been 52 to 48. Which is still a loss. You do realize that the outcome of legislation is very rarely not a foregone conclusion by the time the vote is taken right? That's why there are positions called whips. I'm sure Senator Sanders appreciates your well-wishes on his recovery from hernia surgery.

since I don't wish illness or pain on anyone.

However, he did show up to work yesterday and again today. The article says that he did not vote rather than he was not present to vote.

In a separate article (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/senate-set-republican-bill-unraveling-health-care-law-35548543) it does say that, "They also voted 90-10 to permanently repeal taxes on high-priced "Cadillac" insurance policies, a strong signal of growing congressional momentum for erasing that levy." So apparently Bernie was around to vote at least part of today and the vote on that bill was far more lopsided than the ACA vote.

Outcomes are known before the votes are taken. I don't know why he wasn't there for this one bit if his was the deciding vote he would have been.

and part of today. Yeah, he was on his feet, but I doubt he's up to doing handsprings yet. If he knew how the vote was going to shake out (which is extremely likely), he might have left early.

I don't recall if they distinguish "not voting" between present-not voting and not present.

Another article that I read from "The Hill" indicates that Cruz did not inform the leaders of his own party how he intended to vote so the information that the whips knew the outcome before the vote actually occurred doesn't necessarily seem to be on target with me.

Instead of 52-47, the vote would have been 49-48 and it would still be going to Obama's desk. Where it will be vetoed. This is nothing to be "concerned" about.

And it's a guaranteed White House veto, which neither Senate nor House can override.

Did Sanders know that the other GOP presidential candidates were going to be present to vote? Rubio has missed a large percentage of votes already.

I will be waiting to read an explanation from either the senator or his campaign.

I am shocked as hell to first, see he did not bother with it or bother voting on something so important, regardless where votes stand.

Secondly, this would be a legislation that he should be behind with his campaign and what he is telling his people.

Inevitably this man seems to misstep.

“By the time of the final vote, [Sanders] had a plane to catch for New Hampshire,” said Sanders spokesperson Michael Briggs, who reiterated Sanders’ support of Planned Parenthood and noted that “the outcome of the vote was not changed” for Sanders’ non-participation.
