Elizabeth Warren praises Bernie Sanders (noncommittal on primary endorsement)

The progressive Massachusetts senator, who has withheld her coveted endorsement, was asked about that Friday night by the Boston Herald’s Chris Cassidy at a holiday lighting ceremony in Melrose.

“It’s just not time for me to do that yet,” Warren told Cassidy, adding that she doesn’t know when she might make an endorsement. She also rejected Cassidy’s suggestion that Clinton’s primary rival, Bernie Sanders, was losing popularity.

“Bernie is doing what Bernie always does — he’s out there talking from the heart, raising the issues that he’s raised for decades now,” Warren said. “That’s just who he is.”

Her words echoed past appraisals of the Vermont senator, who trails Clinton in the polls in all early-voting states besides New Hampshire. “Bernie is there on the issues,” Warren told Cassidy in June. “That’s what matters to a lot of people.”

This has always been my interpretation. You don't blow dry powder until you're sure it matters. JonLeibowitz Dec 2015 #3

Sure. No disagreement here. But she is aware of the political calculus as well. JonLeibowitz Dec 2015 #20

she has to be careful not to unless he is showing great strength (polls, votes)
If not, then she knows she needs to come out in support of Hillary as winning is really all that matters right now.

I'll be very disappointed, but I understand that Hillary is known for having a political black list; it would hurt progressive causes if she were to end up there for no possible benefit.

I will not take an endorsement, necessarily, as an indication of who she supports the most ideologically.

As an actual liberal, as an actual democratic socialist, I can give you an endless list of reasons why Hillary isnt liberal enough for me, but what is happening here is just attacking her for the sake of attacking her.

With the language. You'll also note i haven't attacked her. I do understand that one can gain political favor with a future president by endorsing--and i understand that Liz Warren understands that.

nominee it just proves that the Democratic Party is not a party of the people but just another wing of the right. As we have seen since the late 80s Centrist right leaning dems have caused great harm to the poor and middle class. Enough is enough and we must stop this lurch to the right our country has taken. Call me all the names you like but it is the truth and I'm not afraid to say so.

When the GE takes place, I will support the candidate that best aligns with my ideology. That candidate is Bernie Sanders. I'll write him in if I have to but I'll not settle for the lesser person, party or not. As for the threat of SCOTUS picks, Reagan actually put people on the bench who are now on the liberal side. And if Republicans get in and destroy more of America, the people will eventually right this grounded ship.

heart, I for one will not call you names or blame you for things you have no control over. Perhaps if people would do these things and not be brainwashed by propaganda and threats we would be able to have a say in what kind of government controls our future. IMO Getting money out of politics is our first step and it seems Bernie is trying to do so.

After iowa it will depend on what new hampshire looks like. If it looks like he will win she will wait until after to endorse him.

But if it's close she may endorse as a way to help him win the state.
