Give up the Dean Scream search. All you'll get from Bernie is substance (and occasional grouchiness)

God, it's as if Bernie Sanders went after reporters with a meat cleaver yesterday, when all he did was call them out for their OCD obsessiveness with their endlessly trumpeting the Fear of the Week, while ignoring other issues.

55 threads on DU about it. (Including this one.)

So Sanders called out the media for their shallowness, and his political opponents want to make it a major "problem."

And they're hoping it will be the Dean Scream that allows Clinton to waltz to the nomination unopposed.

But, sorry to disappoint you. It didn't happen. The members of the AA community at the press conference applauded Bernie's remarks.

The media is not endlessly replaying it on a loop. They're currently obsessed with Trump.

So, to paraphrase the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld: "No Dean Scream for you!"

And let's get real. C'mon, you Clinton supporters and others who are trying to use it to "prove Sanders is unfit to run."

Be honest. You really agree with him. You know he is correct.

If Clinton had called out reporters for the same reason, you'd be jumping up and down yelling "Right On! You Go Girl! Tell That Truth."

It won't hurt to admit it.

Yes terrorism is a serious problem. Sanders knows it. Clinton knows it. Neither is ignoring it. But we lose perspective.

In late summer and early fall, it was "cool" to talk about poverty and the disparities of Wealth and Power. But that was sooooooo last month.

And there's the e-mail obsession. That's all the MSM< wanted to talk about for a while.

Now it's Terror, Terror Terror, with a side journey into reactive bigotry. And obligatory beating of the chest over who is the toughest.

Next week, who knows? The Disease of the Week maybe.

Meanwhile, life rolls on. And the structural inequalities and decline of the middle class, and the increasing plight of poverty and so many other problems will continue to be core issues that should be at least mentioned once in a while.

Sorry folks. You know he's right.

But cheer up. Maybe tomorrow Sanders will trip on his shoelace and stumble. Maybe he'll mutter "Damn it all. Stupid shoelaces." as he catches himself in mid-stumble.

And then you can get yourselves into high dudgeon over the Shoelace Problem and post 30 threads about it.

"Oh my God. Sanders is so infirm he can;t possibly be president!" or "Oh, Sanders has a 'problem' with shoelaces. He can't handle them."

Not to be the grammar version of the Soup Nazi. But "high dungeon" is probably what would be on the second floor of nationally franchised "Patriot Acts!" "debriefing" and detention centers, during a Trump first term...

And that he threw a fit when they ignored it?

And the media is running with it. In just a quick glance on the Google machine I see articles, and editorials, on the incident from:

NBC
Washington Post (twice)
NPR
The Guardian
Buzzfeed
UPI
The Baltimore Sun
The Hill
Christian Science Monitor
Mediaite
CBS
ABC
Baltimore Magazine
CNN
BET
Politico

And then I just stopped, because there are a lot more articles.

The issue is that the press secretary did something stupid and Bernie didn't handle it well.

It is not the Dean Scream, but it sure as hell isn't going to help the impression that he is weak on foreign policy.

And, for the record, if the same thing happened to Clinton I know I would call it a faux pas.

"The Clinton camp has frustrated reporters at almost every turn. Since her campaign's launch in April (although now her campaign apparently "officially" launches on June 13 in New York), she hasn't sat down for a formal interview with any media organization. Before answering questions from the press in New Hampshire and Iowa last month, Clinton had gone 28 days without answering a single question from the media.

Texas Southern University has also informed reporters that the media must stay within certain barricades and that there will be special media-designated restrooms. Readers of the blog will no doubt recall the time New York Times reporter Amy Chozick was escorted to the restroom while covering a Clinton Global Initiative event."

Any time anyone brings this up with me, THAT is what I am going to remind them of.

And not in order to glorify Bernie, either. But to remind people that is where our focus should be. That the people who had invited them liked his remarks.

Zero questions. That makes her a strong leader, properly controlling the press. Who wants to ask questions about voting rights anyway?

Answering questions about the subject at hand instead of ISIS? That makes one a terrible amateur.

Well, as long as you don't mind cognitive dissonance.

Well I am going to give it to you anyways.

In GDP alone there are over 500 OP's about Hillary since Nov 1st 2015 and not from Hillary supporters either. I can't even begin to tell you how many of those are the same. It's just one long run on sentence!

So if you want to talk about a "Dean scream" moment (in this case whining beyond all recognition). Clean your own damn house first. Jesus Christ!

Sure Sanders could have given them a snappy quote like "Isis is an evil we have to confront." Give the a soundbite that may make it into the endless stream of politicians all saying how bad Isis is.

But he is trying to avoid falling into the 9-11 trap, when for years the only story in the news was Terror, Terror, Terror," while Bush and Wall St. and Corporate America were looting America.

If you believe the press is acting responsibly in the way they cover the issues and politics, tghen go ahead and support that approach.

However, I suspect if Clinton did something similar, you wouldn't be defending the myopic behavior of tghe media quite so much.

And actually so would I. I'm one of those Bernie supporters that refuses to get into bashing the other candidates. But lets face it, a lot of this primary shit around here is just "your team sucks, my team is awesome" grade school-esque nonsense.
