Related: About this forumKarl Rove: Donald Trump Would Get 'Creamed' Up Against Hillary Clinton
" Trigger Warning: This OP contains positive content regarding HRC)" -1StrongBlackManIn a Wall Street Journal column published Friday, Rove acknowledged Trump's consistently strong standing among Republicans in the polls, and the impressively high percentage of backers -- 46 percent, according to a recent Quinnipiac poll -- who say they won't stray from Trump before the primaries.
Hitting Trump for his antics -- citing the Republican presidential candidate's beef with Fox News host Megyn Kelly and insults of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for being captured in Vietnam -- Rove lamented that there's seemingly no line Trump can cross to lose the backing of his loyal supporters, who "eat up stuff like that."
But in a matchup against Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in the general election, Rove wrote, Trump would get "creamed." He called Trump a "dream candidate" for the Democratic Party.

(99,714 posts)I was going to say he's in a great shape for a man his age but he's in great shape, period...
I really don't like when someone says "she looks great for her age", what?
There is a documentary on EPIC about the Rocky movies. They were amazed at how fast he could run...Also, filming techniques weren't as advanced forty years ago as they are now.
I learned a few things. Ken Norton was originally going to play Apollo Creed and Sly was in the hospital for four days from a heart punch he got from Dolph Lundgren when filming Rocky IV.
Rocky is truly an iconic character...If you have the chance see Creed.

(10,176 posts)I wouldn't want him anywhere near Hillary. Anyway Hillary seems to have hired most of Obama's political operatives and is avoiding her errors of 2008.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)Him to advise her, she doesn't need his advise. He took a nothing candidate and got him in the presidents office, if Rove had Hillary as a candidate he would not have to huff and puff as much.
comradebillyboy
(10,176 posts)one of the worst campaigns ever and having the odious and sanctimonious Joe Lieberman on the ticket was also a huge error. Then in 2004 Kerry was the model for Jeb!'s low energy tepid campaign. Rove helped W against some pretty weak competition.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)A champion from a loser. Gore won the popular vote and without Jeb interference and SC wanting the Republican in office he would not have gotten there.

(7,681 posts)this should tell you Rove thinks Clinton is a weak candidate. He would never say something positive about any Democrat if he actually believed it.

(50,986 posts)entire Democratic field. Unfortunately, he leads national GOP primary polling.
There have been a lot of close elections for U.S. President. Kennedy-Nixon was very close. Carter-Ford was close. Gore-Bush was close, even if we feel that Gore was cheated, the narrow margin of the vote in Florida made theft possible. Gore won the national popular vote, but again, not by much.
Any time a bigoted fascist like Donald Trump is near election, it's a dangerous thing. I want to say that all our Democratic candidates would defeat him. But the argument that Al Gore was a thoughtful policy wonk and life-long public servant didn't sway voters in huge percentages and in large numbers they chose someone who was neither.

(12,471 posts)Imagine the utter total beating he would take when confronted with a Sanders campaign. He would be as good as dust in the election!
After all, many CONservatives and Independents would not vote for Clinton, and would more than likely gravitate towards Sanders. With coat tails, it could be the end of the RepubliCON Party, when Bernie goes up against tRump!

(19,537 posts)... given that Republicans aren't doing as well in polls against Bernie versus what they do against Hillary, and wider margins would be harder for him and his pals to hack then.
Probably doing some extra work to try and make sure that Anonymous doesn't stop him this time like they did when Obama beat back the hack attempt in the last election that had Rove embarrassing himself on Fox questioning their calling the election for Obama then.
He's also trying to get the Republicans to nominate someone that might have a better result against Hillary than Trump would.
So in this statement, he's going after both Trump and Hilary to encourage a Hillary versus a non-Trump Republican that would work to provide a closer election result he can mess with.

(12,821 posts)Could be that Rove wants Dems to support Hillary cuz he feels the GOP has the dope on her if she's the nominee. Not that they would necessarily prevail against her, cuz she's survived their slime for all these years, but... This is Rove, guys.
The term "Rovian tactics" didn't just come from nowhere.
Or do you think Rove is sincere?
* Wow, my computer threw up a grammar error when I typed "Rove" and "sincere" in the same sentence.

(6,592 posts)But hopefully he is right in this case. I'd hate to think Trump could win against *any* Democrat.
Since it's Rove there's always an ulterior motive - in this case trying to stop Trump from destroying the Republican party.

(30,253 posts)Trump as the nominee would be disastrous for the Republican party. His supporters would stay with him, but he would not get the votes of Independents in large enough numbers for him to win.
Saner heads within the party are despairing at Trump's popularity. They know that Trump would not win in the general election, but I was surprised to read that some also don't think that he should win because they consider him unfit for the job.
Cruz is ascending in the polls and Rubio is not far behind him. I think that when the chips are down, their nominee will be either one of these two. From our perspective, Cruz would be the better choice. If there's one subject on which both parties have achieved bipartisanship is when it comes to Cruz. Both sides despise him. A Cruz nomination would be better for us than if Rubio won.
