I cannot wait for primaries to start and the rancor to start diminishing. The alerter needs to contemplate his/her own motives.

(110,159 posts)We have talked about it often. Sanders supporters not only acknowledge this, but they cheer it.
So, I have to ask.... So? One way or another, aren't these Sanders supporters?

(57,349 posts)Hillary pandered to the right when she agreed to support late term abortions along with her Republican opponent Lazio. Then there was her racist 2008 campaign where she smeared Obama to gain votes.
At least Bernie sticks to his principles and won't sell us out like she did.

(11,014 posts)Not in primaries.
Doing so in primaries is tantamount to treason -- inviting outsiders to an exclusive primary process in order to hijack it.

(57,349 posts)Or did you think she was appealing to Democrats?
cosmicone
(11,014 posts)She appealed to people who didn't think Barack Obama was electable and "gun nuts" come from BOTH parties.
Hillary didn't go to Liberty University did she? Or coopted Rand/Ron Paul supporters?
Reaching across the aisle is an attempt to hijack an election.
That is almost like inviting people across the street to come and vote in an HOA election. It is tantamount to tampering with a party's faithful members and trampling on them with a herd from the outside.
We are democrats and we should decide who our nominee is -- not republicans. Plain and simple, open and shut. Getting outsiders to disenfranchise us is TREASON.

November 29, 2007
"And first, let me first say how relieved Bill and I were to hear that Saddleback was spared from the recent wildfires - and how impressed and moved we were to hear about the love and support that you gave those who were not so fortunate.
It's another example of the way in which this church is not measured by numbers. Yes, the numbers are big, they're certainly impressive. But it's measured by your impact. It's measured by the meaning that you give to lives here within this complex and so far beyond its boundaries. And the commitment that you demonstrate both to our faith in God and to doing His work here on earth is exemplary and that is one of the many reasons that I wanted to be here today.
You know, Rick has helped so many people with his lessons for a 40-day spiritual journey. But he knows those 40 days are just the beginning...."

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton showed up to Pastor Rick Warren's Saddleback Church in California on Wednesday for a conference on AIDS. Warren offered praise to Clinton before the crowd of more than 500 people for showing up. "Most of you know that we invited all of the leading candidates, presidential candidates, to come to Saddleback Church to share about their view on AIDS." Warren said to the crowd. "Four of the candidates said they would send a video, but one of the candidates said Ill come." Warren went on "she was the one that showed up" clearly a boost to Clinton over her rival candidates.
Warren, the author of the best selling book The Purpose Driven Life, which has sold 30 million copies, created the Saddleback Community. He has created a global alliance of more than 400,000 pastors representing 163 countries and hundreds of denominations and has been influential in the evangelical community.
Warren, asked Clinton "Why'd you show?" Clinton responded "well first you asked me, and second in a burst of enthusiasm I said I would and I have been looking forward to this."
Five other presidential candidates spoke by video - Huckabee, Edwards, McCain, Obama Romney. The video speeches given by other candidates did not elicit nearly the applause or attention that Clinton received. The democratic frontrunner spoke of her travels abroad speaking powerfully about one visit to Bangkok and meeting to a 12 year old girl who had contracted AIDS from a brothel. Clinton also spoke about the unjust way that men in the 1980s were treated when they were too ashamed to tell their loved ones that they were sick with the disease. "We are taught to heal the sick to love them as our own but 25 years ago too many of them died alone."

(10,893 posts)Point taken, though. For a long time, I suspected that happening not just there, but places like here and on C&L. It's hard to tell who is who online and if people are truly who they say they are. It's understandable why they'd pretend to be Bernie supporters: to attack her from the left on issues they perceive her to be moderate on, while hoping to dampen Democrats' enthusiasm for her and maybe even get someone else to run against. This is typical of the GOP to be sneaky enough to attempt to ratfuck our party. They can't win fairly on the issues nationally, so this is all they've got aside from voter suppression. Every time I hear about stories like these, though, it helps keep me inspired and motivated to pay attention to politics and to continue voting against them in every election.

More from another source, here= http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-01-19/republican-operatives-are-trying-to-help-bernie-sanders
In Iowa, American Crossroads is helping Bernie Sanders by depicting Hillary Clinton as a Wall Street insider, Jack Pitney, a political science professor at Claremont McKenna College, wrote on his blog.
My guess is that Republican operatives know that Clinton is likely to win the nomination even if Sanders upsets her in Iowa and New Hampshire. But an extended challenge will force her to use up money too early, and nudge her farther to the left, Pitney said in an e-mail. Whether it will work remains to be seen, he said. But at this stage, campaigns will grab for every advantage they can get.
Priorities USA, a group backing Clinton, said the ad was designed by Republicans to interfere with our primary process in an attempt to clear their path to the White House.
At Sunday night's debate, Clinton made a note of the ad, too. Im the one they dont want to be up against, she said, referring to the financial sector.
The efforts indicate that Republicans aren't buying recent polls that show Sanders out-performing Clinton in hypothetical head-to-head match-ups against GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump. One reason may be that, unlike Sanders, Clinton has been through the wringer of Republican attacks. While a spokesman for Sanders didn't immediately return a request for comment on the Republican attempts to boost him, the senator went out of his way in Sunday's debate to invoke recent surveys to make the case that he's electable.....
