2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI Truly Hope the Presidential Primary Campaign
doesn't wear Bernie Sanders out to the point that he decides not to run again for the Senate when his term is up. In his position, I might consider retiring at the end of this term. Presidential campaigns are exhausting and demand a high expenditure of energy.
While I wouldn't blame him for retiring, I hope he continues to serve as the conscience of the Senate for at least one more term. Hillary's administration will need him to have her back in that house of Congress.

I think this run for the presidency was not a particularly good decision for him. But, it was his decision, not mine.

(114,904 posts)surprised if he doesn't run in 2018. If he doesn't, Vermont could very well elect another independent. What most people don't know is that Vermont has a viable third party with some very good up and comers in the Vermont Senate.

(114,904 posts)being so done in by it that she can't run an effective campaign in the general?
But gee, thanks for your "concern".

(146,317 posts)Hillary seems to be doing fine, though, as does Bernie, for that matter. He looks tired sometimes, but I doubt I could muster the energy to campaign like that at age 70. Everyone's different.
Anyhow, he'll be able to slow down, come March 2.

(114,904 posts)I doubt he'll slow down much at all. Whether Hillary wins or loses, he'll have plenty to fight
