Related: About this forumFired Sanders aide: I wasn't peeking at Clinton data files
CNN)The Bernie Sanders campaign staffer who was fired for accessing data unique to the Hillary Clinton campaign's vote file, told CNN on Friday that he was only trying to "understand how badly the Sanders campaign's data was exposed" and not attempting to take data from the Clinton campaign.
"We knew there was a security breach in the data, and we were just trying to understand it and what was happening," said Josh Uretsky, reached by phone on Friday morning, a day after the campaign let him go.
He added, "To the best of my knowledge, nobody took anything that would have given the (Sanders) campaign any benefit."

And it turns out the owner of the company doing the security is Hillary's ex IT guy....the plot thickens and the worms are spilling forth. Ol Blinky has a lot of splainin' to do.

(15,429 posts)Time for Sanders' name to be pulled from the ballots if he doesn't stop this shit immediately.
He comes in as an outsider and the first thing they do is complain about the rules.
Then they break the rules and blame the party.
Typical crap from Sanders.

(18,775 posts)Not that you will.
I really hope Sanders wins the primary just to watch how Clinton's peeps on DU deal with it. Well, that's not the main reason to hope he wins, but it will be an amusing side effect.

(15,429 posts)Then the FBI needs to investigate criminal wrongdoing.

(18,775 posts)And they probably will be if there was actual wrong doing. Sanders is, if anything, extremely ethical.
YOU are very biased and/or employed by Clinton's campaign, so nothing you say - CAPS!!!1! notwithstanding - can be taken seriously regarding Senator Sanders.

Autumn
(45,120 posts)As for IT the Bernie group has several IT workers and they have explained it in detail in the group. Whereas your link was just an anonymous whatever... that explained and proved NOTHING. Nada. Zip. Ziltch. Nothing. Now I'm off and out of GDP. Have a nice day

.......
"We investigated it for a short period of time to see the scope of the Sanders campaign's exposure and then the breach was shut down presumably by the vendor," he said. "We did not gain any material benefit."
.........
"This wasn't the first time we identified a bad breach," he said, confirming to CNN that the Sanders campaign reported another breach to the DNC in October. "We reported it to them. They thanked us for reporting it and they told us the breach had been closed."
"In retrospect, I got a little panicky because our data was totally exposed, too," Uretsky said of how he handled the latest breach. " We had to have an assessment, and understand of how broad the exposure was and I had to document it so that I could try to calm down and think about what actually happened so that I could figure out how to protect our stuff."
And he created a record to make it clear what he had done. Good heavens, I don't know how anyone can fault this.

(45,251 posts)trying to determine the security of Sanders data and took nothing that would have advantaged the Sanders's campaign. This is bs. Not to mention that Hillary's guy is responsible for the breach and for not taking care of it when the Sanders campaign reported it. This story reeks.

(20,234 posts)Uretsky says he got into the system to create a record to make it clear to anyone with NBG-VAN knowledge that he was "going through stuff that I wasn't supposed to have access to."
NGP-VAN is the technology company that provides campaigns access to the voter files.
The point: He wanted people with knowledge of the voter files to be able to clearly see that he was testing the depth of the breach.
"This wasn't the first time we identified a bad breach," he said, confirming to CNN that the Sanders campaign reported another breach to the DNC in October. "We reported it to them. They thanked us for reporting it and they told us the breach had been closed."

(6,907 posts)Do I have this right-
The DNC "rents" data to both the Sanders and Clinton campaign.
Do they keep the data on the same servers?
Did this guy use his log on he had been assigned and have access to the data?
Or did he steal someone else's password or crack another login? or did he some how hack in to the root of the system?
From what I'm reading, it sounds like the Clinton database was open to his account, that he could access these data from his own account.
Vincardog
(20,234 posts)Concern was that Sander's data was also available to anyone as well.

(20,234 posts)Data his campaign put into his own data base.
They didn't take the whole thing down for a security review.
They didn't take anyone else's access away.
They just tried to cripple Bernie's campaign 6 weeks before the IA caucuses.
That is the big deal.
Right when Bernie needs to start calling and firming up his supporters they pull his list of addresses and phone numbers.
