2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI give Hillary full benefit of the doubt on the cooked up email nonsense because I understand...
...what a messed up world it is in IT/software development, etc. I also understand that the vast majority of elected officials in our government know next to nothing about how all this stuff works and how bugs can occur because of a programming mistake or a mistake made in a database in terms of exposing data to users. I know that, unlike me, they don't have 15 years of experience in the architecture and development of software that provides users with a graphical user interface that allows them to query data and produce meaningful information from that data or how that data even makes its way into a database in the first place. On top of that, most of them know nothing about network and server machine security. They hire people to do this and they really have no way of knowing how good the people they hire are because its a really deep topic that you have to have a career in to appreciate. Our elected officials are not computer programmers or network administrators or software architects or any other of the several variations of titles granted to information technology professionals.
Having said that, supporters of both Bernie and Hillary should have enough common sense to recognize that this is a complex situation that has nothing to do with the candidates in question.
I support Bernie. I like Hillary. I'll vote for whoever wins the nomination.
But I think Debbie Whatshername Schultz has done a terrible job as DNC chair. She oversaw a horrible midterm annihilation. And on this data breach issue, she has displayed more incompetence in the way she has handled it. This all could have been dealt with in a fashion that does not make our party look dysfunctional and she failed to do that.

(7,865 posts)I also ignore anything about Hillary's emails as political bullshit reporting.
It is amazing that there is such a vociferous reaction by a subset of the folk here to a problem they don't even fully understand.
Also I agree with your assessment of DWS. She basically threw away three Democrats running for congress in favor of a few of her Republican friends. She has not been a friend to progressives or to the party. She really needs to go.

(39,909 posts)The only issue I have with the OP is that the Sanders campaign warned the DNC about the security breach months ago.
I don't care how complex the problem is, it was/is the responsibility of the DNC to ensure security, especially after being warned by the Sanders campaign.
Case Closed.
