This is prediction (with absolutely no disrepsect aimed at Joe Biden)

Given that Hillary has already said publicly that she's stepping down from the SOS post for Obama's second term..

I Predict -

#1 After Obama is re-elected, she makes good on that statement (good for her, her choice)

#2 Obama asks Biden to take on the post (he's wanted that position for a while)

#3 Obama picks a new VP from the 'new crowd' of Democrats. I make absolutely no prediction (cough! I Want Brian Schweitzer! cough!) hmmm? what? .. er.. I make no prediction on that pick.

#4 Then new VP then has 3.9 years as the VP to be 'experienced' thereby giving us the 2016 Ticket (cough! Schweitzer/Warren! cough!) .. sorry I gotta get that cough looked at.

My Opinion and I'm Sticking to it.

I really like him a LOT but am distressed by his support of "Clean Coal".

Schweitzer/Warren WOULD made a fab duo, though!

The Constitution says a VP appointee has to be confirmed by both the House and the Senate.A good chance that at least one of those two chambers will be Republican controlled (the House, perhaps because of outright gerrymandering).

Feb 2012

"Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress."

Nothing about hearings... so vote boys! Oh you don't want to? Well, you're weakening the country!

That is what all of Obama's administration and judicial nominees have had to go thru.

It might not say so in the U.S. Constitution but The Senate rules are what dictate what the 'confirmation process' in The Senate is.

We already know this because SOS said months and months ago that she would step down.

As for 2, 3 and 4 - no chance in hell.

The job of the SoS is grueling (tons of travel) and Biden is not that young anymore, he will turn 70 years old in November.

Joe has never been one to be away from his family for long periods of time, he even went home every night when he was a senator.

I just do not see it happening.

Biden is a loyal guy and a good VP. He'll stay where he is because, who knows? he might actually want to run himself for president in 2016.

Biden may want to run for president In 2016.He hinted that on Meet the press back In 2009 and reports said last year he told
Democratic fundraisers to keep him under consideration for 2016.

The problem with him stepping down as VP for Secretary of state Is even If Democrats keep the senate Republicans won't make the
hearings easy especilly after job Biden will soon be doing on Romney In the general Election.Believe me I can't wait to see Biden
unleash on Romney.

If Biden's health Is good and his family supports him running he has every right to run for President after serving well with Obama.
Look at how old Ron Paul Is and he keeps running.Dole was 76 when Clinton beat him.

Unlike 2000 If Biden runs I expect him to have a few primary opporents.Similar to how In 1988 Bush had a few Republican
opporents. It would be up to democratic Primary voters to decide If they want Biden to carry on for Obama.

Hillary will step down and try to enjoy at least some privacy. Biden will be re-elected with Obama and serve another 4 years as VP.

Take that to the credit union!

Since the retirement of Mrs. Clinton is assumed, then Obama should be planning for it before the election. If what he thinks best is VP Biden as SoS, then he should say that before the election, and run with his true VP choice on the ticker.

He'd be slammed for it in senate hearings; the Republicans would say the new VP wasn't a real VP at all, but had been smuggled in undercover. And they'd have a good case for that.

Biden will remain Obama's VP. Besides, how many VPs have become president? Only a few.

As for Hillary, she's exhausted and needs time to rest and have an actual life. It must be hard to be continuously traveling and coming back to a big, empty house in DC. Her mom passed away and Bill & Chelsea live in NY. Let's wait and see how she feels after some R&R. Maybe she'll change her mind about 2016. Who knows?

But look for Obama to make a few new cabinet appointments with an eye towards creating plausible 2016 candidates. SoS is going to be the first clue. If he picks a Richardson or someone who has thought of running before, that will be an indication. If he starts plucking Senators that would be another one. Panetta has been moving through the ranks. One might look for him, in 2 years, to move to another cabinet post to "fill out his resume".
