FINALLY, the Sanders campaign cooperates

Had they done this on Wednesday, maybe they wouldn't look so unprincipled:

DNC Chair Statement on Voter File Access
December 19, 2015

Today, DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued the following statement:

“The Sanders campaign has now complied with the DNC’s request to provide the information that we have requested of them. Based on this information, we are restoring the Sanders campaign’s access to the voter file, but will continue to investigate to ensure that the data that was inappropriately accessed has been deleted and is no longer in possession of the Sanders campaign. The Sanders campaign has agreed to fully cooperate with the continuing DNC investigation of this breach. The fact that data was accessed inappropriately is completely unacceptable, and the DNC expects each campaign to operate with integrity going forward with respect to the voter file.

The DNC has worked hard to build a state-of-the-art voter file that will help us elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November and beyond, and we will continue to work with our vendor to ensure that a breach of this nature never, ever happens again and that our data is secure.

We are glad that all parties are moving forward and that the candidates and the party can refocus on engaging voters on the issues that matter to them: building on the President’s legacy of creating jobs, growing the economy, and a robust discussion on how we can keep Americans safe.”

DWS has demonstrated her incompetence again (the 2014 election debacle for the Democrats being the last major screw-up) -- she needs to resign or be fired.

They had been asked for 3 days to cooperate and provide assurances that the stolen files were destroyed. They ignored DNC request. They would have come out of the courts looking like turds.

They finally complied with good reason, first to avoid court and second, because Bernie found out what they had been doing behind his back.

I've said it all along, Bernie is a decent enough dude, but a magnet for some people with very poor reasoning and decision making skills.

The judge would've asked, first and foremost, why neither side could sit down and handle the issue out of court, why it had to escalate to the point of absurdity. Lawyers on both sides very much likely talked about this to both the DNC and Sanders campaign, which is why you have such a clean result.

DWS caved, though, because she was taking it personal when I saw her on CNN. She probably got a stern talking to because frankly she was going way out of bounds.

The Clinton campaign and the DNC have insulted the intelligence of the American people and this will not be forgotten. Until now, I have always said that if it came down to it and Hillary was the nominee - I guess I would have no choice but to vote for her. I am a bit less certain now. We will remember it come this November. You are not going to win this election by Nixonian dirty tricks. To focus exclusively on cult politics and the desire to hang out with the cool kids is a deeply misguided approach. I hope wiser voices among Hillary's supporters prevail. They have really screwed the pooch trying to pull this stunt. I hope they wake up and smell the coffee.

No, it is the Sanders staffers who lied.

http://time.com/4155185/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-data/

...............According to data reviewed by TIME, the Sanders campaign appears to have obtained files with lists of voters that the Clinton campaign had cultivated in 10 early states including Iowa and New Hampshire.

Beyond simply reviewing the data, the logs show the Sanders staffers took deliberate steps to harvest and store the information. According to the logs, the Sanders staff created from scratch no fewer than 24 lists—consisting entirely of data pulled down from the Clinton campaign’s database—and saved them to their personal folders.

The logs show the Sanders campaign accessed the Clinton data for nearly one hour beginning around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. The Sanders staffers were apparently able to view unique voter information along with accompanying information about how likely the voters were to vote for the various candidates, crucial information that the Clinton campaign has likely spent millions of dollars to collect.

The Clinton campaign called for a clear accounting of the breach.

“We were informed that our proprietary data was breached by Sanders campaign staff in 25 searches by four different accounts and that this data was saved into the Sanders’ campaign account,” said spokesman Brian Fallon. “We are asking that the Sanders campaign and the DNC work expeditiously to ensure that our data is not in the Sanders campaign’s account and that the Sanders campaign only have access to their own data.”

Moreover, the Sanders staffers who carried out the breach included a top lieutenant for the Vermont senator: Josh Uretsky, the national data director for the campaign.

The Sanders campaign denied that it had downloaded any data, saying that it did not retain information from the Clinton campaign.

“They didn’t download it—they went in looked around,” said Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs, who announced Thursday the campaign was firing Utersky and that they were treating the matter seriously.

Uretsky also told MSNBC that the campaign “did not export any records or voter file data” and was simply trying “to document and understand the scope of the problem.”.................
