2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFoolish gamble by the DNC at this time
in our history against an extreme Republican Party (like I said yesterday). Now it's all out there for the world to see.

(67,111 posts)more strategies against the democrats for 2016. Namely, the DNC can't even keep their own data secure, and democrats are not trustworthy. This could have been handled in an amicable manner without a 'hair on fire' approach by DWS.

(4,205 posts)You actually think DWS gives a tinkers dam about that....she is out to give it away and that fit right into her plans...

(9,841 posts)I think they sense a real danger this primary season could slip away from them... thanks to yesterdays craziness, they may well have guaranteed it.

(14,195 posts)DNC had to give access back based on the contract. They played hardball with Bernie and he refused to lie down and take it. I think that stunned DWS & the DNC.
I await an independent third party evaluation of the vendor (Hillarys 2008 tech guys company) database and the history of access. It will be inteesting to see if any other eyes were wandering during these repeated 'bug fixes' where the firewall was dropped.
It is easy to prevent (temporarily shut down access to do builds, put up a maintenance wall) but if they were truly database professionals then each campaigns database tables would be salted and hashed with pointers to the shared data. That way no one could see their private data without serious decryption effort.

(4,822 posts)and the Bernie Sanders campaign cheated. Try using some common sense.

(9,841 posts)Remember Bill Clinton, who gained major momentum after his victory in NH?? Oh wait, he came in second in NH, and still used that relative success to propel his campaign. THAT's how important Iowa and NH are.

(14,881 posts)I was already wondering about that when Bernie came out last week saying "we can win this."
Now I'm really wondering about it...

(462 posts)I think she's weaker than her polling. If she loses Iowa and NH, all bets are off. The national polling will shift into a much tighter race in a heartbeat.

(21,054 posts)Yesterday, they pretty much sealed HRC's fate as again being the loser. The stench left with the general public is clinging to HRC and not to Bernie. Total backfire.
Please.
Give it a rest.
The problem is that DU is such an echo chamber for this silliness that, without anyone to tell how ridiculous this is, you start to believe it.

(62,276 posts)It was quite stupid to pull the trigger on the database knowing damn well they couldn't go through with fighting an injunction on the eve of a damn Democratic debate. This is a massive dataset that the Sanders campaign paid $120,000 to access, which is vital to their campaign work. They had to have known a lawsuit was forthcoming, that an injunction would be filed for, and that the DNC would have to fight it. That the DNC did not fight it (knowing it could win) proves the politically risky nature of the whole venture.
DWS took it personal and overreacted big time.

This whole thing is very smelly . . .

who can help with changing that ratio.

(36,392 posts)Completely destroying the party to get Hillary the nomination. I never thought it would come to this, but the dlc has done so much damage over the years that it is probably inevitable.

I want to roll my eyes right now but the doctor said if I keep doing it, my ocular muscles might spasm and eject my eyeballs.

(21,054 posts)But the damage has alread been done to HRC by DWS and the DNC.
Someone posted about sending DWS and the DNC a thank you card for how much they have done to promote the Sanders Campaign. I do believe I will do this.

(8,168 posts)and irrelevant.
I may vote for Bernie, I may vote for Hillary, that's my business.
I don't boost either candidate here, I don't play that silly "team" game.

(21,054 posts)I support those who hold positions consistent with mine. Bernie does; Hillary does not.
I get that there's only altruism and no "us" versus "them" when it's brought up directly.
Doesn't mean it isn't the main engine driving debate - especially on this site - my opinion, of course.
