Since October they were warned and they still could not maintain the parameters they contracted to maintain. But DWS really wants them to be retained, unquestioned and unpunished. Why is that?

Sat Dec 19, 2015, 11:59 PM
Dec 2015

(which I hadn't mentioned, and should have)

State committee members are elected, and then the committee members elect officers, two of which are sent to the DNC. Voters also directly elect DNC members in primaries. If we wanted to change the DNC, we'd have to start paying attention to these elections and electing good candidates.

We also need to pay more attention to these elections, because I've seen the issues that have come up with the DNC play out with the state parties (trying to rig the election for their preferred candidate). Here we had a mess of a state party who decided to break their bylaws by suspending elections for two years (and they had real power, appointing people to fulfill the role of elected officials who vacated their office, or assisting certain candidates in their campaigns). When we finally did get an election, a large group of progressive activists challenged them across the board. They ran a fierce campaign based on reform (I even did some campaigning for them). No one paid attention, and the corrupt old guard was largely reelected. So if the DNC members are coming from people like that, I'm not terribly surprised by what they're doing.

Still, my time and money will always go first to the groups who always stand by their progressive beliefs (like my local DFA group).
