2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWill Hillary go after Bernie personally tonight?
My guess is "hammer and tongs".
And I wouldn't be surprised if O'Malley joined her.
I don't know if it's the politically advantageous thing for her to do, but it's not the honorable thing to do. Just the Clinton way.
I hope I'm wrong.

(2,760 posts)The more I think about it, I think she will. It's too her advantage to have people think "well, all politicians have scandals, Bernie had that one data thing."

(30,439 posts)I would confront them.
No point, he is going after himself at this point.
He hasn't really been campaigning, his rally size has reduced, NH is a must win and he is just ahead.
At this point they are both their own worst enemies.

(4,458 posts)she would be quite Foolish to do so. People are Leaving the Dem Party over this-People are Shifting from HRC to Sanders and he has raised a LOT of money Because of this.
So, IF they Don't want to re-energize calls for an investigation into HRC/DWS/DNC and make Cause to Boost Sanders Donations....Again....they maybe ought to rethink that strategy. In my opinion.

(42,862 posts)Mods will bring it up. O'Malley will go after the DNC as he is on record about the number of debates.

On the other hand, punching down looks bad. When Clinton isn't threatened she knows not to do that.

(2,352 posts)and the answer is....the lawsuit continues. Bernie will go after them in the court of law, where it will do the most good, leave the greatest impression, and make change.
And he isn't going to take any guff, either. She can try, and suffer the consequences, if she's foolish enough to think there's anything to be gained by making herself look less.

Hillary is already under scrutiny for data breaches on a privately hosted server, while she was S.O.S..
If the case is made that the 'corrupt' Bernie team accessed data, from a computer system that is managed by a professional IT Firm, that would just highlight the susceptibility of the data that was housed on her locally hosted server--one managed by a single IT guy.
Just a hint: It takes a team of servers and a staff of people to properly secure a system, and even then, with poor protocols, lax quality assurance, miscommunications, poor system design, etc., stuff will still be breached. If you place that data on a public cloud server, you might as well post it on a highway billboard, because it's up for grabs by hackers.
IMHO, she would be a fool to raise this topic, as there will definitely be a response coming back.

(1,192 posts)I don't know about O'Malley though. I'm guessing he will choose not to. Since he's not so happy with DNC either.

(337 posts)It would be incredibly counterproductive for her to do so, but for a career politician, her political instincts are pretty terrible.

(1,089 posts)Where one of the candidates had pending litigation against his/her party? I don't know the answer, but I certainly don't remember such a circumstance.
It's going to come up - it almost has to. Hillary will define herself and her campaign in a lot of ways to the dozens of people who are actually watching on the last Saturday night before Christmas.
Then whatever happens will get totally lost in the vacuous news cycle that is next week, and only real devotees to the primary process will know or remember what happened.
Of course, it won't be lost on the repukes, so whatever Hillary decides to do it absolutely needs to be the correct choice.
IMHO, she should give a basic, slightly dismissive answer to the whole thing and leave it alone.

(23,730 posts)isn't it weird that her harshest critics can run the campaign better than the people she's paying millions to do so? no floundering when asked on Wall Street, no hamfisted voter-database manipulation, no footmen with ropes, and above all no shrill intimations of felonies (which are immediately met with REAL, non-bullshit lawsuits)
of course, to us government collusion with the people defrauding us out of our homes and people broken by ridiculous wars are *issues*, things we face every day: to her they're networking and growth opportunities

(1,089 posts)I will vote for her if/when she becomes the nominee, but I do agree that it's very strange how she manages to step in it so often. You would have to think that after decades of this, she'd be more sick of constant scandals - fake or not - than almost anything else in the world. That's why I don't get why she doesn't just diffuse them as quickly as possible. I think her whole email fake scandal crap could've been brushed aside relatively quickly if she hadn't continued to dodge, hide the ball and stonewall, and that's just one example. If she jumps in with both feet on this, I'll be stunned. She of all people should know what it feels like to be the target of completely fabricated bullcrap.
Now, when it comes to DWS, I am most definitely a harsh critic. She's the reason I am currently unaffiliated. I will re-register as a D so I can vote in the CA primary on June 7, but on June 8 I will go back to unaffiliated and remain that way until there's new leadership at the DNC. DWS sets the whole standard for stepping in it at every possible turn.

She has been taking a BEATING in the electorate over this ...
What basis does she have to attack him? ...
This is completely backwards ... She'll be lucky if he doesn't shut down her campaign tonight
