To those who are asking people to "punish" the DNC by cutting off donations:

Maybe you don't realize that the DNC will provide millions of dollars worth of support to the Democratic nominee in the general election, as well as to Democratic candidates up and down the ticket all across the country.

The Democratic nominee will desperately need that support through the DNC's Coordinated Campaign, without which no Democratic candidate can ever hope to win the general. If Bernie Sanders wins the nomination, he's going to rely heavily on that support, so by trying to dry up those funds, you're actually undercutting him in the name of defending him.

You might want to rethink that strategy . . .

We can give directly to our local candidates. We don't need the DNC to distribute the money in the uneven hand that they have been doing. We don't need them to chose our candidates. And we certainly should consider having the candidates that we support have their own servers so they don't have firewall issues with the established insiders.

Individual candidates - even major party presidential nominees - do not have the money or infrastructure to run full ground campaigns across the country completely on their own. They rely heavily on the resources and infrastructure that the DNC provides through the Coordinated Campaign. Giving to individual candidates is good, but it's not even close to being enough. the local, state, and national candidates could never get out the vote and win an electuon without it, no matter how eager, committed or generous their supporters are.

That, fyi, is why Sanders is running as a Democrat and not as an Independent. Unlike some folks here, he knows he wouldn't stand a chance in the general without the help of the DNC.

Sorry if the DNC wants money they are going to have to earn it like everyone else. Maybe they can hold a bake sale. Or maybe they can go knock on some doors. Or maybe they can start listening to the people that support them, nah that would never work.

Send money directly to campaigns. If the DNC isn't measuring up for donors, they'll be no comfort to those considering enlisting their support in that election effort.

FYI: I haven't seen or spoken to anyone asking people to cut off donations to the DNC.

Of course, I wouldn't be cutting them off, simply because I've never once, ever, donated to them to begin with.

I donate what little I've got to give to candidates. Including candidates in general elections, when I support their candidacy.

Sanders will have what I've got to give.

I haven't donated to the DNC since a relatively small donation in 2008, once it looked certain to me that Obama would take the general. However, I've donated to a good number of campaigns of Democrats. No regrets.

I'll give to candidates, but the DNC, particularly under current leadership, has made it clear they have no use for those who think like me, and frankly they're corrupt and inept. So, no, not funneling my money to them just to help them do more hippie punching.

you'll see vanity threads around here where DU'S 1 percenters brag about receiving phone calls from bundlers, dollar amounts given, dinners they've attended with the candidates directly, that sort of thing. They sound like 1 percenters from the other side. And you can guess which candidate they're all supporting.
