2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf Hillary's campaign stole Bernie's campaign data
you can rest assured that there would be NOT ONE complaint that DWS restricted the Clinton campaign's access to the database.
In fact, I can almost promise you, we would hear demands to never allow the Clinton campaign to ever access the database again.
I'm in awe of the bluster, to use DWS word, being spouted when you know deep down in your heart if the shoe was on the other foot, you would be calling for heads to roll.
Second, DWS didn't go to the police, and Sanders campaign ought to be grateful she didn't. Come to find out there were actions taken to delete information from the Sanders campaign computers to hide evidence of their breech.
That sort of puts to rest the fact that she is out to get them, eh?
In my opinion DWS has been gracious in light of all the lies and attacks pointed at her, that in my humble opinion is OTT conspiracy. Speaking to the truth of the matter about this isn't an attack on Bernie, it's just the truth.

(2,603 posts)DWS would have never restricted HRC's data and never would have gone to the press.
It would have been handled exactly the way it was when she did it in 2008, without a peep.

(23,720 posts)In fact it was handled quietly without anyone from the DNC taking it to the press or any one from Obama's campaign demanding she lose her access.

(9,522 posts)She was angry and she said Bernie had nothing but bluster, a few hours before she did a total about face. That is not gracious.

(36,418 posts)From the Sanders' lawsuit:
23) Upon information and belief, a similar security incident arose with the NGP VAN
software during the 2008 national presidential primaries, resulting in the unintentional transmission of Confidential Information to the campaign of Democratic primary candidate Hillary Clinton (the "Prior Incident" .
32) Upon information and belief, no action was taken in response to the Prior Incident in 2008, nor was any candidate's access to Voter Data suspended as a result of that Incident.

Please explain.

(10,751 posts)That does not say much for Hillary Clinton's supporters, who certainly should be expected to defend her campaign if the DNC goes against the contract that they signed with the campaign, fails to notify them they are taking action, and fails to abide by the 10 day period for correction that is spelled out in the contract.

(10,126 posts)reported a security breach and that their data was compromised by another campaign last October.
"We're actually very confident that some of our data was lost to one of the other campaigns"
Sanders during the debate last night:

"On two occasions, there were breeches in information two months ago. Our staff found information on our computers from the Clinton campaign. And when our staffers said, "whoa, what's going here?" They went to the DNC quietly.
They went to the vendor and said, "hey, something is wrong," and that was quietly dealt with. None of that information was looked at. Our staffer at that point did exactly the right thing."
Josh Uretsky, fired Sanders national data director

"This wasn't the first time we identified a bad breach," he said, confirming to CNN that the Sanders campaign reported another breach to the DNC in October. "We reported it to them. They thanked us for reporting it and they told us the breach had been closed."
Tad Devine, Sr Advisor to Sanders Campaign

... working on a different Sanders data crunch in October also detected a data breach but immediately reported that to top officials, Devine said
What did the DNC do about it?
- Not an audit as both Sanders and his manager Weaver have asked the October incident get audited in the last 48 hours. Josh had expected one would have taken place (but it obviously didn't).
- Did the DNC leak it to the media last October like they did this time? Nope
- Did the DNC suspend the campaign who compromised Sanders data from accessing voter records and make sure they didn't have any of Sanders data? Nope, they didn't even conduct an audit to find out who got Sanders data!
- Did the DNC solve the data security problem? Not really. It happened again in October and again recently.
No, we don't have to speculate what would happen if the shoe was on the other foot because last October the shoe was on the other foot and the DNC did very little about it.
The conduct of the DNC is inexcusable. If Josh was fired for trying to get evidence and understanding of the breach for a few minutes before going to his superiors, DWS should be fired for never solving the problem and treating the two campaigns very differently under similar circumstances.

(1,656 posts)We will never know that Clinton stole Sanders data because Clinton's DNC owns
the data and can say or not say anything they want.

(7,018 posts)from having public exposure, such as: Having only 6 Democratic Primary debates, and
placing them as much as possible on weekends and holidays, so that few people will
be listening to the debates. You're trying to make her out to be an angel. She isn't.
You're wasting your time here. People won't be changing their minds and voting for
her in the Primaries.

this was an orchestrated attempt by the dnc to cripple the sanders campaign because their internal polling is likely showing a close race in iowa and sanders ahead in nh
