2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumNotes from the Outside....
That is, outside of sites that cater to political junkies and wonks like us. Here's a little conversation I had with a kid that has probably never heard of DU but goes on Reddit and Twitter all the time. A kid who has probably never been polled because he lives at his parents house because of high student loans:
I went to my local Walgreens to buy some Wal-Act nasal tablets. A handsome young millennial helped me, and I commented how irritating it is that the only thing that works to clear me up is regulated by the DEA.
He said, well there are people who do buy this illegally, and I said I was happy pot is being legalized and wished all drugs could be decriminalized.
He said, yeah that doesn't help me. I live at home because I can't afford my own place.
I said, that sounds like a student loan problem. That's why I'm for Bernie.
He answered, yeah I love that guy.
I said, then caucus for him, because for once I want my tax dollars used for something that benefits people like free college and single payer.
He nodded and I said, he needs us there because it's gonna be a fight.
He agreed and we left it at that.
That, my friends (and not-friends) is why I've got this iceberg on my signature line.

(41,600 posts)I had a bank teller (a Millennial) tell me he LOVED my Bernie button, so I gave it to him. He said, "Oh, my wife is going to love this!" So, I pulled another button out and gave him one - he was thrilled.
I was at a hospital coffee shop and the young Millennial dietitian compliment me on my Bernie button - I gave it to him.
A young lady (Millennial) checking me out at a restaurant complimented me on my Bernie button and told me she had the same thing on her car! (PEACE LOVE BERNIE)
A waitress (Millennial) complimented me on my button-she got her own.
My sister volunteers at our local Hospice and another employee ran into the building asking people "are you driving a Fit?" "are you driving a Fit?" and finally got to my sister "are you driving a Fit?" and my sister said, "Yes, I drive the Fit." The lady threw her arms around her and said, "I saw your Bernie bumper stickers! We just LOVE Bernie!"
I saw a lady entering our local grocery store wearing a "Feel the Bern" T-shirt.
I've also seen TWO Bernie bumper stickers in town. I'm telling you - Bernie people are everywhere and in huge numbers. TPTB are going to be shocked when we vote.
PEACE
LOVE
BERNIE
