2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary said "Hell no" she won't apologize for "lying" re: ISIS Trump videos .. so now what?
Hill's refusal to acknowledge her over-statement is succeeding to some extent to keep M$M's
attention on HER & Trump i.e. GE-bound.. while giving the M$M a handy excuse to keep ignoring
Bernie Sanders phenomenal campaign.
Judging from NBC's national news tonight, she's succeeded, to a point. There was an 3-4
minute sement on the Cinton-Trump dust-up, ALL about Hillary & Trump, like the GE was
already "On!". Was this Hillary at her "presumptive" best, pretending like she's already won
the Primary; and the M$M is lapping it up.
Lawrence O'Donnell did a segment on the Cinton-Trump kerfuffle, arguing that it was foolish
of Hillary to attempt to "out-Trump" Trump by refusing to admit what she said was technically
not true, but was an "exaggeration", but to make an important point, that shouldn't get
lost in the he-said/she-said shuffle. O'Donnell argues forcefully that Clinton was wrong to
refuse to acknowledge the untruth of her claim re: Trump videos being shown to recruit
new ISIS jihadists. That segment is at the first 10-15 min. of this 43 minute video:
So which is it?
Did Hillary blow it by not illustrating to Trump and the nation what a real leader does,
when caught in a lie, i.e. simply acknowledge the 'overstatement' and move on? Or is Hillary
being sly like a fox by copping M$M focus to shine on HER and Trump, warming up for the GE,
enabling the M$M to continue to completely ignore Sanders?

Hillary and Trump acting like it's already the General Election, with
the blessing of the M$M who loves this handy excuse to continue to
ignore Bernie's amazing campaign.
And you don't feel there's ANY thing about this stinking pile of shit
worth responding to, other than to say it's "nonsense".
Got it.

(19,326 posts)to massively deceive voters, in an attempt to lock-up an election before the first vote is even cast, is not
"up your alley", then you know where your back-button is.

As for my "opinion" that "Hillary and Trump (are) acting like it's already the General Election"; I'll just
say yes, that is my opinion .. which, as I understand it, every DU member is entitled to share, provided
it complies with the ToS, just as you're stating your 'opinion' to the contrary.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI (HOST): Stop.
SCARBOROUGH: This is like -- you see the Mel Brooks scene when Larry David was on, and it was on "Curb" when he did it, and they said, we've got to kill -- Mel Brooks in a headband -- we've got to kill this thing. And Larry David goes out and is so bad that people are just absolutely fascinated by it. This is the political equivalent of "Springtime for Hitler."
BRZEZINSKI: No.
SCARBOROUGH: This is The Producers. Well, no, that's not a Trump reference. That's a Broadway reference.
There are time when the Trump campaign reminds me of the Producers

(85,999 posts)...Hillary didn't lie about trump videos advantaged by ISIS - no more than Sanders lied about his Libya vote.
Both exaggerated to make their point. Trump doesn't deserve a moment's cover here. I think this is a despicable tactic.

(5,204 posts)is her claim that it would hurt ISIS to take out Assad. I don't care much about her lies about Trump. I do care about her lies to try to get the middle east even more screwed up. Her foreign policy is an epic failure.
99th_Monkey
(19,326 posts)I wouldn't even be bringing this up at all, if it were not for Lawrence O'Donnell's rather
lengthy segment on this, raising the questions he raised about Hill's choice to fight
Trump on his own terms, rather than modeling for the public how a public official or
candidate can graciously admit an 'exaggeration' and move on unscathed .. rather than
digging in her heals with "hell no"..
I don't even have an ax to grind on this really, and kind of wish I hadn't even posted this
OP, because no one seems to want to discuss it seriously. Now that I have tho, I don't
feel I've said anything wrong, or that hasn't already been reported by the press, so I'm
not inclined to self-delete either.

How many times a person wants to get back in the White House and succeeds? Third time, not sure if Mrs. Clinton will be successful!

It speaks more about their credibility and our apprehension to vote for them. I never thought that politicians lie but this year, the GOP candidates take the cake, especially Trump!
