2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe victim-pandering is getting old, and distracts from talking about issues
There is a lot of injustice in the world. But when it comes to a President, I want a leader, not a perpetual victim.
Politically there is a time and a place where that can be effective. Not this cycle...in the 2016 cycle, it's a political TRAP.
If I'm the GOP, I keep baiting with the brutish crap that Trump does. Why? Because it distracts OUR candidates from talking about this issues...the area where we DO have the advantage.
I get that HRC has a target market that does get fired up when she plays the victim card. But I hope they understand that while that base appreciates it, it's a VERY small target market, especially this cycle. It turns off more than it attracts.
Keep your eyes on the prize, HRC. Don't venture into the mud, because that's where you're least electable.

(17,469 posts)I am NOT an HRC fan and have no intention of voting for her, but I don't see her response to Trump as "pandering". Trump is launching into disgusting attacks on her and needs to be called on each and every one.

(337 posts)Unfortunately that's the playing field this cycle. Say something disgusting, and your polls go up. If one is constantly offended, people stop listening to their concerns.
Frankly HRC/DNC needs to hit Trump on his business deals. NO ONE does business with Trump twice. NO ONE.
The offensive comments are what they are, and is fools gold for his opponents. The polls have proven that. Instead, hit him where he's supposed to be strong.

(37,364 posts)For weeks now we have listened to the incessant whine about BS being ignored and victimized by the press and by every freaking conspiracy theory that could be cooked up by interpreting changes in the weather to plots to harm Bernie.
Just stop already. BS has gotten a temporary pass by the right for now because they consider him inconsequential. Should he pull the nomination out, they will savage him and I don't think he can handle this sort of vitriol directed at him.
I want someone who will stand up and push back and HIllary did an excellent job of defending herself. She's right. We don't need a Bully in Chief. Lots of us don't want one, but I guess this fine with some. ANd since when are the most strident of Sanders supporters here interested in discussing issues and not getting down in the muck to help him shovel it? Just read some of the threads over the past few days. Disgusting.
