I'm not sure. It feels that way, though, at times.

(34,845 posts)Ignoring numbers (reality) does not serve any purpose, from what I can see. Clinton pretty much has this wrapped up. I think if anyone is still disappointed, the best (productive) frame of mind to be in is to work with what we have.
And to not give up, as so many here on DU seem to want to do.

(9,497 posts)I belong to a closed FB group that discussed world events with people from around the globe. There was one old guy from Florida who just liked to come in and stir up stuff. He sounded a lot like MM, actually...same folksy writing, pleading ignorance, etc.
The group leader kept him in because it was kind of amusing for awhile. He knew so much in a very tiny sliver. But then it was not progressing any real conversation. He was giving himself high fives all around, thinking he was winning arguments. But it wasn't about winning on the internet. It was about discussion.
We haven't missed that stuff since he was booted.
And here I am giving you a story that has nothing to do with this OP. This is how it is done.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Ugh. Poster is "telling a story" in order to insult Mineral Man, comparing him to another "old guy" and trying to pull this off without confronting him directly. Very bad form, yet "this is how it's done." Yuck.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Dec 30, 2015, 07:47 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Bad alert. Nothing against TOS.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT

Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Since making a passive aggressive point to criticize some other DUer through a rambling story is Mineral Man's usual MO, I really don't think hiding somebody else for doing the same exact thing is the least bit fair. At least artislife got to the damned point, MM's OPs make the begats in the old testament seem like fascinating reading.

Blake: You're talking about what. You're talking about... Bitching about that sale you shot, some sonofabitch who don't wanna buy land, some broad you're trying to screw, so forth. Let's talk about something important. They all here?
Williamson: All but one.
Blake: I'm going anyway. Let's talk about something important. Put. That coffee. Down. Coffee's for closers only. You think I'm fucking with you? I am not fucking with you. I'm here from downtown. I'm here from Mitch and Murray. And I'm here on a mission of mercy. Your name's Levine? You call yourself a salesman you son of a bitch?
Dave Moss: I don't gotta sit here and listen to this shit.
Blake: You certainly don't pal, 'cause the good news is - you're fired. The bad news is - you've got, all of you've got just one week to regain your jobs starting with tonight. Starting with tonight's sit. Oh? Have I got your attention now? Good. "Cause we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know first prize is a Cadillac El Dorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired. Get the picture? You laughing now? You got leads. Mitch and Murray paid good money, get their names to sell them, you can't close the leads you're given you can't close shit. You ARE shit. Hit the bricks, pal, and beat it 'cause you are going OUT.

(11,257 posts)Having Sanders in the race has been a good thing, and he's certainly welcome to see it through to the end. Personally, I agree with him on a huge number of issues. I support HRC in this race because I see her as a better candidate, and as a FAR more effective President, if elected.
Stranger things have happened, but Sanders is looking very likely to lose 18 out of the first 20 primaries (maybe more). If that plays out and he stays in the race solely to be a spoiler, that's a problem. But in the meantime, I'm happy to let his supporters take all the time they need to get prepared.

It looks like he's going to pass Hillary in fundraising this quarter. He's showing strong, and has been for a while, in the first two states. Focus closes in now that we're at 2016.
This was the pre-game. The qualifying round. Bernie qualified. He's doing better than anyone ever would have predicted a year ago. Against the most anticipated and expected candidate for nomination in modern history, he has made it competitive.

I can't remember a national poll where she was lower than 50%, either. That's a stark contrast to this time in 2007.

(7,865 posts)Actually national polling before the primaries and caucuses have even started is not an absolute indicator. It is a good measure of name recognition.

(23,664 posts)Just read the posts here. Most of those supporting Sanders are written by those who are aware that he is the only candidate of either party who is addressing the issues that the middle class in America cares about.
There is however, a Democratic candidate who has lots of "fans". Most of their posts refer to superficial crap like hair, pantsuits, grandchild, etc., and manage to avoid the issues.

(115,719 posts)I haven't seen any comments by this OP explaining exactly why he supports Hillary, other than his disdain for Bernie's supporters and his belief that Hillary is more likely to win. But nothing about why her policy positions are actually better than Bernie's; just these passive-aggressive rhetorical questions.

(1,926 posts)I don't appreciate Right Wing smears one bit, and totally ignore them. The problem for me is all the $$ she has got from the fat cats. There is some there there, and it can be devastating if something comes out. It seems her supporters ignore the fact that she has had the DLC mindset for all those years, and isn't any different now.
There is no way she takes all that Wall Street cash, and then works for my families interests over theirs. She will need their cash for her re-election if she wins the general, and she knows it.
We elect Bernie, or we're screwed.
Again.
She has been paid, and will have to perform.
Now there is the seeds to her downfall.
Bernie won't go there.
Millions of us understand how you pay to play in our current government.
Bernie understands it is wrong, as I do.
And so should everyone reading this thread.

(5,614 posts)See, I'm not a conspiracy buff or anything like that (though I was a Goldwater BOY in NYS back in the day) but in a world where American Sniper may be Oscar bound a movie that openly repeats a lie about HRC's people stopping a rescue attempt is way beyond the pale, and doesn't deserve a penny of my Social Security.
Remember how successful Black Hawk Down was? Did anybody stop to think what those American soldiers were doing there? Can anybody doubt that the sturm und drung (did I get that right?) of US CIA mercenaries being told to stand down is going to fuel the wacko-right-wing? Is Cruz and Rubio et al going to make an appearance on the red carpet?
Bey should stick to the Transformers and let real directors direct real movies.
