(55,981 posts)therefore can judge others. Funny how reality has stumped philosophers for centuries but you got it down pat.
Looks to me like lots of people are living in a reality based on supply side or trickle down economics. Let the wealthy have all our resources and they will take good care of us. They are oblivious to the fact that the wealthy 1% have been draining the wealth and resources from the 99% for at least 40 years and if we let it continue, we will all be paupers. Maybe the reality of those that worship the wealthy is that they think the wealthy will be nice to them. I have a message, the Oligarchy doesn't love us. They want our wealth and resources and will kill us to get them.

You can hide quite alot that way.
Like lack of crowds.
Number one really stands out for being so carefully placed. Almost scripted, but Hillary would never do that.
You can look beyond the "crowd" in Pic #1 and there is no one there. Not even shadows of the epic throngs dying to get a glimpse of her.
Ok back to recovering from foot surgery. I need more ice and painkillers.

(115,719 posts)not so much. Margaret Thatcher comes to mind. I want to emphasize that I am in no way comparing Clinton to Thatcher, but just making the point that women candidates should be given equal consideration as president, but the fact of being a woman doesn't make them better. Some are good. Some are not. I won't vote for someone on account of their gender.

(1,253 posts)She was last year's candidate in 08' and her Third Way conservatism plays even worse today. The passionate, motivated progressives just are not into her. She missed her chance. If she makes it to the GE she might, win, but It'll be a nail biter and we'll get SLAUGHTERED down ticket. No coat tails with her, only more Third Way shifting to the right. NO THANKS.

(165 posts)I haven't posted (or even read, really) anything on DU since Bush was president. But I'm a millennial on the upper end of that millennial age range, and I can tell you that many of us millennials who were just old enough to vote in 2004, which happened to be the first election for most of us, are behind Clinton. We're the people who supported Dean in the 2004 primary (and voted for Kerry when it mattered) and the people who supported Obama in 2008. Obviously, we're not in college anymore, but we're not that far removed either (5 years, 10 years tops), and we're still in our late 20s/early 30s. I can't speak for all of us, but most of us older ones have moved past that stage in life where we go out to rallies to hear what politicians have to say. We already know by now, we don't need a rally to motivate us. Some of us don't even have the ability to get out to these things, as we have other priorities in life (family, careers, etc.) that are bigger than rallies. It's not for a lack of enthusiasm, it's just that we are at a different point in our lives where rallies don't fit in and are not really for us.
Anyway, to reiterate, I can't speak for all of us, but there are a lot more of us (and I'm not suggesting "all" or even "most" of us) supporting Clinton than anybody would lead you on to believe. We're the same people who said we were "holding our nose" to vote for Kerry in 2004 because, according to us, he was all of these awful things that the Bernie Sanders supporters say Hillary Clinton is in 2015. To be honest, we were also the same people who were worried to death about Clinton getting the nomination in 2008 and said we'd hold our noses then too if we had to vote for her, but we've come around by now. I think my whole point is that I can understand the enthusiasm the younger millennials have for Sanders, because we felt that way about our own precursors to Sanders back in the day, but as we grow older, we learn to appreciate that there are more things to consider about a candidate than just hearing what we want to hear. I'm not saying we're more "right" or anything like that, just that we start looking at things from a much different perspective as we grow older. We don't look back and say "we were wrong," because we backed solid candidates, it's really more of a "yeah, we backed good candidate and don't regret it, but I can see why this one would be more effective" (or as the case was with Obama, we actually did get what we wanted).

I don't doubt at all that her supporters are quite enthusiastic, but there's just not the numbers. And with every poll it seems her numbers drop and Bernie's rise.
And I am so fucking sick of the "But Bernie can't possible with the general election" that I'd like to, well, I'm just sick of that. We heard the same thing over and over again about Obama, and remind me again how that one turned out?

(41,986 posts)A significant proportion of them like Donald Trump as well. Really like him. I think --this is just a guess---that the Millennial support for Hillary is from the politically engaged--they don't need to be convinced. They are enthusiastic and will vote for her.
This may be part of why Sanders is trying to attract Trump supporters, that and the independent vote of course--as he has little chance of attracting the hard line republicans.
