2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFailing to give the people in your party something to vote for
Instead of poll tested lip service, and then blaming those same people for not showing up to vote, is a problems that Democrats have failed to look at and understand for at least 2 decades. It's not the fault of the disenfranchised that leaders go to Washington to benefit themselves instead of their country.
People are fed up with incremental loss of rights to appease republicans. We DONT need to move farther right one iota to get people to the polls. It is just the opposite.
The revolution is coming, it will not be televised but make no mistake. You should be glad too, if not for Bernie we'll be staring at president tRump.

(3,919 posts)military industrial complex do not give a rat's ass for any of us, workers, future generations, the environment, etc. , much less just agreements or compromise or anything in the best interests of the country. it is all about them and their greed for money and power. the only way to reverse this trajectory is to make them in fear of us. as consumers & workers, we have the power to fear our power & accomplish the shift to social justice. we can do this very thing via a nonviolent revolution & the tip the tables back in our favor.

(6,592 posts)I was raised to always vote, and I have.
But I can't completely blame those who are discouraged or frustrated. They have reason, a lot of it engineered by Rs and not stood up to sufficiently by Ds.
Side note: Much appreciation to those who stand up to voter suppression and gerrymandering.

(19,926 posts)And now for the Third Way as well.
I can't remember who said that but Thom Hartmann plays the audio clip on his show from time to time.
And now that Third Wayers keep pushing the false social justice vs. economic justice - as if we can't fight for both at the same time and as if they aren't intertwined - they don't care if people stay home and don't vote because what they are really pushing is a rationalization and justification of voting for conservative economic policy.
