David Gregory goes full pucker-up with Bibi and makes a fool of himself

Gregory Declares Bibi King of the Jews

Okay, not quite that bad. But not a good moment.

On Meet the Press this morning David Gregory referred to Benjamin Netanyahu as “Leaders of the Jews” and in his role as ‘leader of the Jewish People” asked for his verdict on President Obama. “You are the leader of the Jewish people,” Gregory told Netanyahu.

Helping matters somewhat, Gregory went on Twitter a short time ago and clarified that it would have been “better to say he’s leader of jewish state.” To which I would say, yes, much better. In fact, probably best to say, he’s leader or Prime Minister of Israel.

Including much political opposition.

“Netanyahu’s opponents include the current leaders of the Israeli military and the major intelligence branches, and their most recent predecessors, to say nothing of a decisive majority of the Israeli population. They fear consequences as dire as regional war and an Iranian regime unified and strengthened by a sense of common purpose.”

Makes Cameron's 36% look almost like a mandate.

Complete proportional representation (Israel) and complete lack of it (UK) in a multi-party system both distort democracy badly.

Admittedly some of Netanyahu's non-voters voted for other right-wing parties, but he is still hardly the unanimous choice of Israel!

And certainly NOT 'the leader of the Jewish people'.

I don't get the right wingers demanding we have to check with Israel before we do foreign policy in the middle east. Doesn't sound like American exceptialism to me when we have to bow down to Israel.

he'd call Netanyahu up so that he could tell him what he needed to do if there were problems over there.

David Gregory does not even TRY to hide the fact anymore that he is a right-wing zealot and makes the war-mongering "Bibi" look like a moderate.

Gregory's predecessor, Tim Russert, while always giving his corporate masters their due, at least tried to appear even-handed.

By constantly interrupting his guests when they even try to answer his answer his stupid leading questions, does Gregory honestly think that he's exercising some kind of journalistic gravitas? Gregory is a dumb platinum blond who is clearly out of his depth. Like most right-wingers in the media, his biggest worries seem to be his haircut and hoping his pancake makeup doesn't crack when he grins.

Maybe People Magazine could find him a job.

He is one of the most consistently foolish people to be found in the M$M. He is an intellectual lightweight with just enough talent to read a TelePrompTer.
