To find out where left-leaning richies live, I went hunting through some databases with revealing info about income tax collections and campaign contributions. Result: a list of 25 places with a concentration of high incomes and democratic politics.

The list of limousine liberal hangouts includes Beverly Hills and parts of Manhattan, both scenes of recent $35,000-plus-per-ticket fundraisers for Obama. New York and California account for 18 of the 25 hot spots for left-wing millionaires.

Illinois, home to Obama’s political base and to lavishly pensioned government workers, gets three spots on the list: the towns of Glencoe and Winnetka and the Gold Coast stretch along Lake Michigan. Massachusetts has plenty of Democratic voters but a shortage of extremely wealthy towns, and so is represented by only one locale, the Beacon Hill section of Boston.
