I always thought the Preamble of the Constitution stated what to expect from Government.

Romney rejects that for at least 47%.

We the People  of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

To create a framework by which the people of the nation can create a central system that will meet the needs of all people in said nation. The purpose of government - good government - is to serve the people, starting at the bottom. Starting the service at the top is the hallmark of BAD government, and is why Americans have traditionally loathed the governmental systems of Latin America and the Middle East, since they were autocratic vending machines for the elites of said nations, always at the expense of the masses.

Anyone who cannot - or will not - understand these basic guidelines, has no fucking business entering politics in this nation, much less aiming his eyes on the presidency. Anyone who believes that the government's function is not service for the whole of the nation, is at best deluded, and at worst advocating the overthrow of our way of life.
