It's hard to see gun control as a big issue in November

It's way down on the list of issues that voters think are important. It's been that way for years. To date, there's no indication that will change by November. It's important in the primary. And it's important to the 26% of voters who are democrats. Independents views are far more mixed, and we all know how repubs roll.

That's not a reason not to support it, but the fact is that gun control is way, way down on the list of important issues for voters, even though most people support President Obama's executive orders on gun control. And more gun supporters are passionate about the issue. Most gun control supporters don't match that intensity.

Is a critical issue for the NRA types and drives them to vote. Less important for the average citizen, and I'm not aware of any gun controller who voted solely on this issue. In other words, it motivates Republicans and, to some extent, independents while Democrats are largely ambivalent.
