Combined Groups Draft SOP

Be kind, my friends, because I just banged this out after eating dinner. I tried to keep the essential parts of all the SOPs, as well as adding a bit of "linking language," so it is a bit long.

For discussion:

"Looking for a Group to discuss all issues affecting women in the U.S. and around the world? NAME OF GROUP is a safe haven where anyone interested in discussing and trying to resolve the problems that are inherent to women in society can come and work together, without having to defend the basic premise that issues do exist which specifically affect and limit women, their rights and their potential. This includes “traditional” feminist concerns and theories; intersectionality, the concept often used in critical theories to describe the ways in which oppressive institutions (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, classism, etc.) are interconnected and cannot be examined separately from one another, as well as lighter topics including recreation, movie and book reviews, and anything else that is a part of our lives. We believe that the best way to build a strong community is to laugh with and learn from one another."

one thing I think should be discussed ahead of time is how the hosts handle heated discussions. I think allowing a bit of heated debate is okay until that heated debate turns into name calling or insults. I just want to think of all the issues that could come up. I don't want to be part of a group that is going to either be heavy-handed or allow things to get out of hand as it has in the past. A happy medium should be met but that's just me. I don't see a lot of this going on in the future but hearing about people being blocked from a group because they spoke harshly about something outside the group... well, that kind of behavior bothers me. Now I feel like I'm rambling.

It is too easy to take things out of context, and you can't know what is in a person's heart. If they abide by the SOP, then that should be that.
