Little snippets.. I must admit I told the sender of the DUmail near the end I didn't give a shit what he thought of me.
That is when I told him I didn't give a shit what he thought about me. Forgive me for using the word shit. I mean, he was being so nice to me! LOL And got this response:

I have no idea who sent you the comments but I look at that and think -
arrogant, ignorant, sanctimonious, silly, condescending, old, shrinking importance, laughable, liar, so last century, small, frightened, poor thing, desperate

Not the best response from Skinner either. FWIW

(3,724 posts)People are automatically locked out of threads when their post is hidden, and others are still free to discuss the hidden post even though the poster can no longer defend his poor little self. But let those nasty feminists do it and boy howdy that so unfair!! Waaaaaahhhhh!!
The most nauseating part of that exchange was the poor Vinny acknowledged that he was here to stir the shit, and that prompted no response from the Skinner. So , message received, and from the very top no less: people can feel free to come here and stir shit with the feminists and the boss will hold your hand while you whine about their response to your shit. Got it. This little exchange, along with the inexplicable refusal to change to TOS to denounce sexism, tells us all we really need to know about the Democratic (sic) Underground.

(998 posts)If your sole intent is to have good feminist analysis without backlash from bruised egos, DU is pitifully anemic in this regard. Other places are much more friendly towards pro-female discussion.
DU is a great place for many, many OTHER ideas and conversation.
I agree, Skinner outted himself as not being as supportive to many of the PAYING feminists here on HIS board.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)Where are those other places more friendly toward pro-female discussion? I'd like to know
because, as we know, this place has serious problems in that regard and I'd be happy to know that
DU isn't the "norm" on the subject for progressive sites, generally.

(110,159 posts)exactly. me, too.
i was talking to son about a pummeling i was getting. the intricate here and theres about it all. then i conclude, but in the sociological aspect of it all it is very interesing. (i was telling him this because of a social issue he was having)
he started laughing and said.... only you. only you will be beaten up and say.... very interesting.

(7,237 posts)People's reactions to what we post are a pure reflection of themselves.
Their opinions are not a reflection of our rightness, wrongness, or value.
When somebody starts posting hateful, nasty, completely made-up bullshit (and lord knows we have seen it over, and over, and over, as described in your OP here http://www.democraticunderground.com/125518858) my reaction is not anger... it is curiosity about what causes them to react that way.
There are a couple of so-called "women" here who are as bad or worse as any of the men when it comes to dripping with hate and venom and perpetuating fabrications. They particularly fascinate me.
i really learn so much and it help me so much in real life. those i love benefit.

I've gotten such great responses from so many of you.

(115,103 posts)One thing to keep in mind is that their hateful, dishonest tactics are intended to silence women who disagree with them. You have support from many women who read more than they post, know that.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)and you're also right...We always have to remember the support we have
from "the silent majority", lol....It is true that for everyone who voices
and opinion, there are MANY more who feel the same way. I've read, a number of times,
that, for instance, for every "complaint" letter/email a media outlet gets,
they assume that TEN more people feel the same way, so one should NEVER
think that their letter or email goes unnoticed because it doesn't, not at all. It's always "worth it".
So, back atcha, kiddo.

Did I tell you my neighbour, who got D3 around the same time as I and we talked over the fence not about sow bugs or that noisy dog down the street, we talked about barbarians and neat crossbows. Wonder what our other neighbours were thinking of that conversation.
Anyway, saw him again just a while ago and he was just amazed that I was up to 60/100 in level, he called his son to tell him, in awe and disbelief! Then I said that it really wasn't me on that account for a while and he didn't want to believe it. ha.

A mere difference of opinion is not, of course creepy--those types will interact ok, even if the argument gets heated-- but the ones that are--ew.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)... uh, just now. I'll join the "posse" of women that are fed up with sexism, subtle or otherwise.
Oh, speaking up means you are guilty of hating men, because, you know, men deserve their rightful place above women, and speaking up means you hate them. It sounds like religion and justifications for slavery.
Oh wait, tag not needed. It's just candor.

It's changed absolutely nothing of my views on feminism. I still educate myself, I still fight for women's rights, and if that upsets someone because I'm a lesbian while doing it, well, so what.

(39,961 posts)There are some serious issues, with a small disruptive group that make it their mission to oppress any woman's opinion. Now I know, this group says the same thing about women doing it to men, but it is false context. I'm just stepping up to the plate and saying "no more" because it has gotten out of hand.'
Feminists on this board could be more tactful, it's true, but the male advocates on this board could try letting it all the fuck out and discussing what is really bothering them, then a dialogue could take place without this veiled bullcrap.
At least they would be honest, and a real argument could take place.

It's funny that the first two excerpts are complaints based on traditionally masculine values: cowardice--the opposite of courage--for the first one and physical strength (muscle flexing) in the second. The third example is just unhinged.
