History of Feminism

Spearhead head boy WF Price uses the terrible unfolding drama as an opportunity to attack the notion of patriarchy. His logic: the alleged abductors werent rich dudes, so therefore patriarchy is a lie. No, really, thats his argument:
Feminists love to point to these incidents and use them to discredit the overwhelming majority of ordinary men, as though they have anything in common with the Castro brothers. They are used to portray every middle class guy as a potential menace to society and freak who would keep girls in a sex dungeon. But it turns out that, in fact, the fellows who kidnapped these girls are about what youd expect: a few disheveled, low-class weirdos.
So why is it that despite the fact that the guys who commit these crimes are almost always on the bottom of the male power and privilege scale, feminists are constantly linking abuse of women to mens power, and agitating for stripping what remaining male privilege exists?
Its time for the patriarchy/male privilege narrative to be exposed for the sham it is. Privileged men are least likely to abuse women; patriarchal types are most likely to protect them. It is overwhelmingly the powerless, those without privilege and the undesirable who resort to crime to obtain sex. The few others, like Ted Bundy, are simply the exceptions that prove the rule.
Price ends his post with an especially nasty bit of victim blaming that seems to be a favorite trope of MRA types:
"But perhaps the real issue here is that women arent as interested in making up stories about guys like the Castro brothers, because those guys dont turn them on like Christian Bale in American Psycho"

(115,103 posts)This is the one from Shakesville:
He's a Men's Rights Activist, part of the broader Men's Rights Movement. He--
Wait, wait. "Men's Rights Movement?"
Yes.
Is that like the "National Association for the Advancement of White People" or the folks who think the Christian Right is oppressed?
Yes, the Men's Rights Movement is the same kind of animal. All of these groups share a common worldview, that the traditionally oppressed groups, be they women, minorities, or non-Christians, have somehow seized control of the country and are systematically denying the straight, white, Christian men their rights.
...
Manboobz.com probably also has a nice summary.

(42,014 posts)As far as I can tell, they started out with fighting against the justified gendered unfairness of custody cases. They then evolved into these----pseudo-intellectual misogynist groups.
My husband was helped by one of the early groups called DADS--Dads against Discrimination with para-legal work. His ex-wife left him with a baby and a toddler in diapers. He obtained and maintained custody. I came along not long after and I distinctly remember walking into the office and the para-legal asking my husband "what did the c*** do now?"
I suspect these groups feel like an oasis for emotionally damaged or men in helpless, frustrating situations, because men are NOT encouraged to discuss or even acknowledge certain emotions, but from what I can read rather than true introspection and proaction they'd rather blame women and society. They also deny rape culture.
So there's books written about the experience of being male, treating men as an unprivileged underclass. Usually big supporters of evolutionary psychology, as long as it has to do with sexual behavior. Some of it is more crazy than others. There is a Sub-group called PUA's--pick up artists, who are weird as hell, their apparent goal is to get laid, and then degrade any woman stupid enough to sleep with them.
****Not to be mistaken for men's activists groups-- ones working on healthy masculinity and mentorship for young men, as well as the end of violence against women, and violence against men. These groups rock.****
