USC Student Alleges Campus Police Decided She Wasnt Raped Because He Didnt Orgasm
The University of Southern California is facing a federal civil rights investigation after students filed a complaint that alleged the school ignored campus rape and failed to prosecute attackers even after they confessed.
One anonymous USC student involved in the complaint said that campus police had decided she wasn't raped because her alleged attacker did not orgasm, the Huffington Post reported Monday.
"Because he stopped, it was not rape," she was told, per the complaint. "Even though his penis penetrated your vagina, because he stopped, it was not a crime."
Another student, according to the complaint, was told by the university Department of Public Safety that women should not "go out, get drunk and expect not to get raped" when she tried to report a rape

(And this, being merely one of many examples, is pretty much why I believe that anyone who thinks females are not being kept down in America are simplistic, sub-literate, half-educated idiots...)

(41,999 posts)This is why I hate the "rape is a form of sex" crowd. If I'm raped, I did NOT just have sex, I don't consider it as 'having' sex, it is a violent assault on my person that can cause irreparable harm.
A rape culture--this is a prime example of it-- shouldn't get to define rape as sex either, which is what this does.

(13,324 posts)And no, "drunk sex" is not necessarily rape. Nor is sex you regret later. But as others on here have stated, women know the difference. And 99.9% are not going to make frivolous rape accusations, given what's involved in such a case.

(41,999 posts)I remember drunk "Oh, my God no I didn't", sneak out the back door, cringeworthy, my friends are going to laugh at me, drunk (usually bad) sex. No, it wasn't rape. (It was a learning curve, actually)
Rape is something entirely different.

(13,324 posts)Most "date rapists" - probably the vast majority in fact - know exactly what they're doing. At best, the other person's consent is simply unimportant to them.

(37,748 posts)The line between consent and non-consent certainly isn't as blurry as some make it out to be..."
That line is predicated on two things... common sense and honesty. If I possess either one or both, there is absolutely no way to say "I didn't know..." That line line may only be used by idiots or liars.
