Is this really happening? (Re: notorious recent GD threads)

First we get the Men's group talking about creepy sexual attraction to children, then a subsequent GD clusterfuck over a response to said thread, and to top it all off, the notion that the wimminz are actually the sexist ones when it comes to men being sexist.

Is this serious Twilight Zone shit to anyone else?

I missed the posts accusing us of being sexist, but I can't say I'm surprised. Some revel in feeling sorry for themselves.

Though it may have actually been in a sub thread.

I could fathom where the transphobia came from during the Chelsea Manning episode, but I had no idea the casual sexism and privilege would be this dominant on a progressive board. Sigh.

Juries let a post stand where a member described the behavior of 95% of women "disgusting." He was talking about infidelity--women who cheated on their husbands with him, no less. Thankfully he was tombstoned, but long after that post.

This community is far too tolerant of sexism and a good number trivialize it at every opportunity. Most of the threads attract the same posters, who either insist a concern is insignificant, or when a woman, like myself, posts about issues like violence against women, they arrive to complain I'm not talking about men. They work diligently to silence discussion about violence against women. I'll let you come to your own conclusions about why. I know what I think.

I mean, I know I fall into the fairly limited male 20-somethings demographic here and a lot of people are fairly set in their ways, but is it really that difficult to understand that sort of behavior isn't acceptable?

but it isn't enforced. For someone to be banned for sexism, it has to be REALLY bad. Recently a man called a female DUer a whore. The post was hidden, but that was it.

put back in the tos statement, but the adm have i believe ignored the issue. maybe nto talked about it directly. or said that it is covered by gender issues. but, sexism is not in tos any more.

Below I linked to the old OP requesting a change to the TOS that could not even get a response from the admin.

Note the usual disruptors.

Here is a thread started back in December of 2012 asking the admin for clarification and to change the language back to the way it was on DU2. After 3 months the owners had not responded so the OP deleted her request. You may notice that several of the feminists posting in that thread are no longer active on DU.

just have been stunned to see more and more of it here. Some feminist websites remove obvious MRA commenters, and I wish that could be done here.
